Sorry, what's interesting? He often likes to, as does Al Dupres on Wales.
Because they usually don't do that on Network, especially the start of peak. TLC a few years back had an announcer who introduced themselves at the start of primetime.
That's not accurate. Duncan does it now and then on Network, just not usually that time of day.
That's Duncan though, the rest of them tend not to. Not in the ITV Be style anyway.

BBC1 Scotland handing over to the News Channel early this morning....

I dare say it would absolutely work for BBC ONE. A mix of the Martin Parr footage (or any similar live action clips) and the 2015/2016 stings - while not truly perfect, could do the job quite well.
Actually, the best thing about those hearts idents at the time was the music; though the Carlton idents stick far more in my mind.
You see, the first chefs ident in this batch is an example of how BBC One could have better implemented Oneness on their idents.

Which is what also causes the current batch of BBC One idents to be even duller, the lack of sonic ID or music.

I'm a bit confused. Admittedly that doesn't take much these days, but if "Reith" the new BBC font is going to be appearing on screen in general across the board, does that mean the BBC One font will change so the Oneness style logo will indeed be phased one? Does this actually mean that Oneness was just for 2017 after all and that anew look will come into play in the near future? Maybe even in the Autumn? Or, is it all speculative because no one actually knows, and that those who might know are not actually saying anything?

I guess it all depends on the extent of the rollout of Reith and whether individual channels will all use it in their logos. If BBC One adopts it, there's nothing stopping them creating a Oneness logo in Reith.
I'm learning not to be optimistic about BBC presentation these days.
