International News Presentation: Past and Present

A compilation of European, Canadian, and U.S. news intros, most from the early 2000s:

One of many oddities in the new ABC World News intro is the way they've treated the ABC logo. It is supposed to be a 3D object where the letters are slightly raised and the reflections change as it moves around. Here it is clear that they've just imposed a finished rendering on a slightly bulging circle shape.

I think the intro is pretty horrid, really. Way too many cuts between meaningless views of the logo resolving, and the actual final logo is cut from the sequence in favour of a studio shot.

Speaking of ITV News, here's a TV station in Sardinia, Italy, using an interesting remix of the old ITN theme:

POLAND: Poland's main network TVN introduced a new look for its 7pm news programme 'Fakty' on October 3rd.
It seems to me like they've taken a lot of idea's from AlJazeera English's set, but it still looks very good.

However, TVN's set is better (and bigger) than either of those two.

And this also proves that the people from the Mail are stupid: the channel is a Russian local station, so its logo is in Cyrillic (in upright italic), it's GT , NOT "rm". (But I have no idea how to inform them.)

Well, I haven't visited the forum since I posted these videos... And it all feels really strange, especially the article — well, now I can imagine what The Daily Mail is all about, even though I have never read a single page of it.

Anyway, News of the City from City Channel in Yaroslavl, Russia (not RM News from some kind of Moscow, according to that article... couldn't they just visit the channel's website which was in the first opener before writing an article?!) changed the opener (so it's now an extended sting) and the headline bed (which sounds like a cheaper library track... in fact, I think it is a cheaper library track):



By the way, before this 'change' they attempted to use the bongs during the headlines (at 00:45):
