Without wanting to weigh in on the whole troll debate, I really don't think it's totally neccessary to have literally dozens upon dozens of videos. Maybe pick a few good ones, I don't know, but that is a lot with not much in between.

In the not-too-distant future (my computer is broken) I'll be able to post caps of the various Australian news openers/other graphics - Seven, Nine, Ten, and the ABC all produce local bulletins; SBS is national.
Seven News openers for Perth, Sydney, and Adelaide:

National Nine News Adelaide:

Ten News, for Adelaide:

SBS World News Australia Opener, national:

ABC News is one of the more watched news services, but for some reason I can't find any current openers. News presentation probably isn't the ABC's strong point, although there are much worse and the content more than makes up for it.

Keep posting them I say - I'm sure there are plenty of people who'll be fascinated in the different themes, presentation styles etc that are used in all of these clips.

Those who don't like them don't have to come back to this thread again, do they?

Here's a YouTube video showing a newscast that was really ahead of its time. You may think that having the presenters stand and walk around while delivering the news was a concept that emerged in the 1990s, but these amazing clips are actually from the late 1970s:

For those of you who enjoy parody, here's a sketch showing how Britons sometimes percieve foreign television news when travelling abroad -- parts of it may remind you of some clips from earlier in this thread:

Chanel 9 Neus (parody)

The sketch is from the BBC's The Fast Show (which aired between 1994 and 2000).

CNN Headline News, 1992 opener

CNN International, generic promo, early 1990s

CNN Headline News, funny promo from 1992

CNN, breaking news promo, 1993

Alf: I'm a bit hesitant to post here after essentially being told to get lost by two users, but to answer your question: A few weeks ago, there were two RTL4 news clips from the early 1990s on YouTube, both of which have apparently been removed. I know that TV Ark used to have a clip (the news opener) from that period as well, so hopefully we'll get to see it again when their International section relaunches.

BTW, thanks to dandan87 for his kind words.

Take no notice. Don't be afraid of posting those links to archive presentation. There is nothing in the rules to say you can't. I quite enjoyed seeing some of those clips. They beat the endless discussion of presenter rotas which seems to dominate this forum now.

Just a tip - if you're doing something wrong, one of the moderators will tell you, not an ordinary member.

I laughed all the way through that one....that newsroom had more extras wandering about in the background than your average Hollywood blockbuster! Laughing

Did you know that one of America's "Big 3" evening newscasts was once anchored from the UK every weekday? When World News Tonight replaced ABC Evening News in 1978, it had three anchors: Frank Reynolds in Washington, Max Robinson in Chicago (reading news from across America), and Peter Jennings in London (introducing international news items).

Here are some clips of the newscast, including the London desk, from 1981

A few years later, Peter Jennings emerged as the sole anchor (based in New York). BTW, all three men have since passed away.

Not everyone enjoys local news music from the U.S., but if you do, you can listen to hours worth of it on THIS site. Click on the note icons to listen to the clips; you don't need to register in order to listen.

HERE, for instance, is an American news music package that was also heard in the UK -- as Sky News' first theme.

Speaking of music, check out this 1977 promo for WBBM in Chicago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oHsJk0i0mE (poor video quality)

The fast-paced, pounding theme you hear in the promo, "I Love Chicago", is still used today (an updated version, that is).
