International News Presentation: Past and Present

Without wanting to weigh in on the whole troll debate, I really don't think it's totally neccessary to have literally dozens upon dozens of videos. Maybe pick a few good ones, I don't know, but that is a lot with not much in between.

In the not-too-distant future (my computer is broken) I'll be able to post caps of the various Australian news openers/other graphics - Seven, Nine, Ten, and the ABC all produce local bulletins; SBS is national.

ABC News is one of the more watched news services, but for some reason I can't find any current openers. News presentation probably isn't the ABC's strong point, although there are much worse and the content more than makes up for it.

Keep posting them I say - I'm sure there are plenty of people who'll be fascinated in the different themes, presentation styles etc that are used in all of these clips.

Those who don't like them don't have to come back to this thread again, do they?

Take no notice. Don't be afraid of posting those links to archive presentation. There is nothing in the rules to say you can't. I quite enjoyed seeing some of those clips. They beat the endless discussion of presenter rotas which seems to dominate this forum now.

Did you know that one of America's "Big 3" evening newscasts was once anchored from the UK every weekday? When World News Tonight replaced ABC Evening News in 1978, it had three anchors: Frank Reynolds in Washington, Max Robinson in Chicago (reading news from across America), and Peter Jennings in London (introducing international news items).

A few years later, Peter Jennings emerged as the sole anchor (based in New York). BTW, all three men have since passed away.
