I really like the VTM News theme that they currently use. The studio and logo looks fresh and clean too. The only downside is the music at the end of the bulletin, seems like it is missing a note.

According to WikiLeaks... I mean, Wikipedia, GUN in KGUN comes from "former owner's interest in GUN collecting and the Westerns that were filmed in Tucson" [source is unclear though] (link)

VTM News in Belgium is getting a new look on Monday. It has a lot to compete with presentation wise, as their rival channel is VRT, who have the very sophisticated colour coded bulletins.

VTM News' current look has only been in use since 2008, and everything about it is very modern, even now:

However a new set and graphics package, including new music, will all launch on Monday. Here's the new logo:

I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Both the current and new branding seem to have a modern edge which you wouldnt really class as suitable for a news programme, it doesnt really come across as authoritive.

I also find it interesting that they call their news programme 'The News' instead of VTM News. Similarly VRT News name their bulletins 'The Journal'.


I wonder whether the new look launched today as expected.

In the meantime, this is what VTM Nieuws looked like in 1993:

The new look did launch on Monday. It's been well received mostly. I do like the music despite it being a less authoritive tune. The studio is okay, but I'm not sure whether its any better than the previous one.
