the globe looks alittle France 24 to me.

It does a bit. Some of the comments also mention the pluses, which can suggest to some that BFM TV is owned by Canal Plus. (It's not.)

Speaking of France, TF1 updated its set today:

Also in Slovenia, the public-service broadcaster TV Slovenija is now using a virtual set for its sportscasts:

Lenodal.com now has a video clip up showing how TF1's new backdrop looks like on the 8PM news:

Some have remarked that the headlines sequence, with the blue strap on the left, bears a certain resemblance to the one used on the CBS Evening News . For comparison, here is Charles' recent clip of the CBS Evening News :

I think TF1's original headline sequence was much better, with them being in-vision behind the presenter.

That said, the new backdrop does look great, heres two shots from the very end of this evenings 'Le 20 Heures'

BELGIUM: Yesterday the programmes of VRT's second channel Canvas updated their looks. At the centre of this is a brand new studio shared by 4 different programmes, the main one being the news and analysis programme Terzake followed by Reyers Laat , Panorama and Login .

As with VRT's main news bulletins, the branding and design of these programmes and especially the new studio is very innovative. The set is shared but each programme has its own 'space' within the set, seperated by thin lights, LCD screens, and glass frames.

Here's an advert promoting the new set, here you can see how its 'seperated' for each programme

TV Avisen looks very slick.

David Lowe really has influenced global news music hasn't he? (La 7 in Italy relaunched in 2004 with a music package that certainly nodded in his direction ISTR)

Wow, that certainly looks like a versatile and innovative set. It manages to be futuristic without appearing cold and impersonal.

Here's a before-and-after comparison of BTQ in Brisbane, Australia, before the changes introduced last month (as seen in this thread recently)...

Yle's gonna rebrand their set later this year, according to a Finnish building constructor the studio shake-up will end in early November and the new look will get on the air in late November or early December. Now lemme remind you of the (very BBC-ish) current look used since Widescreen Day 2007:

Love that - although its ridiculously similar to David Lowe's work!

It really is brilliant. It's got that slickness that I think BBC News sometimes lacks a little bit of.

Not too keen on the 7 News clip above, it's got that slightly dated feel that a lot of American news programmes have.

The user who uploaded the clip has felt compelled to append the name with "Shut up Gavin Scott".

Perhaps there's a language barrier here - I did say I love it. Its really not my fault if it has similarities to UK music - as any fool can make out.

What a weird thing to do.
