ARD, Germany, 1974 -- a day after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, when many feared that a major war was about to break out between Greece and Turkey:

I didn't realise how faithful they'd been to their theme over time, there's little difference between that and their current one:

While we're on the subject of ARD, apparently they will be launching a new set in December this year.

Yes, ARD is one of the world's most conservative broadcasters in terms of presentation -- not only has it retained its music, its overall style hasn't changed much over the decades. It maintains the old European practice of having announcers rather than journalists read some of its newscasts and didn't even use prompters until very recently.

Here is a compilation of ARD's Tagesschau intros from the 1950s up to today:

Do you happen to know anything about the new set?

This video from the ARD Youtube channel contains two variations of the tagesschau theme (both at the beginning). The first one is the intro theme of the info channel "tagesschau24". The second one is used for the new "tagesWEBschau".

Speaking of ARD, here's a repeat from a long time ago: a compilation of news intros used by the various regional broadcasters that make up ARD (beginning with Tagesschau , the national news from ARD's Das Erste), 2009:

For comparison, here's the afternoon (1PM) news from the French broadcaster ORTF on that same day:

By the way, ORTF was split up into three autonomous public networks less than six months later.

TV Vanguarda, the Rede Globo affiliate in the Paraíba Valley, in São Paulo state, has relaunched its news operation (which also went high-def) last Monday. (however, all videos were captured in a terrible SD - hope the HD videos come soon)

Bom Dia Vanguarda (morning news - 7:15am)

Link Vanguarda (midday news - 12pm)

Jornal Vanguarda (evening - 7:15pm)

I just think the set could've been better.

and here's how they looked before (midday and evening editions were both branded as "Vanguarda TV" - following the naming conventions for the local news on Globo O&O stations and most affiliates - and Bom Dia Vanguarda looked the same):

and before that:

earlier this year, RedeTV! launched a new opening sequence and a remixed theme (kinda similar to the theme for Gran Hermano, the Spanish version of Big Brother) for RedeTV! News :

and the Gran Hermano theme for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOXnRP_YclI
