Two quick updates on the TF1 anchor situation:

* Gilles Bouleau has recently been named the permanent 8PM anchor.

* Laurence Ferrari, the former 8PM anchor, is developing the French version of ABC's The View for Direct 8.

N24, Germany, 2012:

Antenne 2 (now France 2), 1981 -- this edition is devoted primarily to the Troubles in Northern Ireland (starting at around the 11 minute mark), but begins with coverage of London-bound Aer Lingus Flight 164, which had been hijacked and forced to land in France:

From this week TVE has put most of it's regular daily shows on summer hiatus till September, something they don't usually do. Of course the decision is part of severe cost cutting measures.

Shows that are on a break are:

La Manana de La1, daily 4 hour magazine whose presenter Marilo Montero got even more pay cuts, I think she now gets only one third of previous 500 000 Euros a year.

Corazon, celebrity news show which before this break went on for 15 years non stop, even on weekends at 14.30.

Gente, evening magazine program that airs from 20.00 till 21.00.

They are replaced by replays of older TVE series.

KWGN in Denver, Colorado, which we've seen here before, has a new set:

Nice. Very Colorado. I liked the old one too. Actually, this station would be one of my favourites in the US - (up there with, I dunno, KHNL, KITV, KATU, KYW, KDKA, WRC......!)

The launch of MSNBC, USA, 1996:



As one of the YT comments states, MSNBC was ahead of its time with its integration of TV and the Internet.
