I was just about to say how very strange the DR news clip was.
How many news broadcasts in the 1980's had a PSC wandering from the gallery down to the studio? Also, how relaxed was the news presenter? Was this the usual style of the programme - or was it during a strike, and they wound up with the first person who said they could read the news?

Also, if DR2 were putting out news broadcasts a couple of years ago from the 1980's - then that is the ultimate in cheap budget streching schedules!

Well, for comparison's sake, here's another DR newscast from 1983, which I posted here a very long time ago (it begins at 0:15):

In the late 1970s, Antenne 2 in France often did similar opening shots from wandering cameras (a different one each day, as was apparently the case with DR), but I think they always stayed in either the gallery or the studio.

Several European public broadcasters air old newscasts (usually "on today's date XX years ago") late at night or early in the morning. I know that I'm in the minority, but I think they can be really interesting, both in terms of content and presentation.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about from Antenne 2; sometimes they used handheld cameras, but usually it was a creative pan with a studio camera like this (in this case from the makeup area to the anchor):

It's entirely possible that that's where DR got its idea from.

Here's another look at WCCO and its wonderfully elegant graphics and music (beginning at 1:10):

I capped this from a satellite feed in 2007 just due to it mentioning its full powered repeaters West of the Mississippi from WCCO-TV

Sure think their graphics package has changed for the better.
