Rede Record (now Record TV), Brazil; Jornal da Record , January 17, 1998:

Fast-forward to September 17, 2018, when Record TV, as part of their 65th anniversary celebrations (making them the oldest Brazilian television broadcaster in operation), launched a new set for their national newscasts, as well as new graphics for their news and sports programs.

And how the new set looks like on Fala Brasil , their national morning newscast, which debuted the next day, when National Television Day was celebrated (in honor of the launch of TV Tupi, Brazil's first television station, in 1950):

However, a completely new studio for the Record TV newscasts is in the works, the design for the new building is ready, but the construction is yet to be greenlighted. (https://tvefamosos.uol.com.br/colunas/flavio-ricco/2018/09/07/antes-de-novo-estudio-jornal-da-record-passa-por-processo-de-embelezamento.htm - in Portuguese).
It's similar to what happened at Globo, with the Jornal Nacional studio. The new set was launched last year, but its design actually predates the 2015 renovation of the previous studio, which launched while the new studio was under construction.

Also, the new open for their crime newsmagazine, Cidade Alerta :

I love it, but I can see why it grates on some people. My favourite version is the 2005 theme (which I posted above) - all subsequent 1 News themes have been based on that one, but none of them are as good, IMO. Incidentally, the 9-note motif you hear in both themes above has been in use in some form since 1993.

A curious fact from that period in time -- the breakdown procedure for when the news had to be cut off, was to simulcast BBC World. This was a byproduct of it being the standard overnight programme (12-6) on TV1, so presumably it wasn't hard to tack on breakdown circumstances into the deal.

As far as I'm aware, the practice stopped after TVNZ decided to start running infomercials overnight to save money and lost the rights to broadcast it.

Here’s a comment on the first video that explains it:

Quote:
having just last week finished working for tvnz as a presentation director I can tell you that A: this is real, B: BBC World is TV 1's backup feed for use on air, TVNZ have paid for the rights to use it not only in overnights, but also as a breakdown source. In this scenario it appears as though there was a problem either in going back to suite 4 (where the news is broadcast from) or somewhere else, rather than put black to air, the director opted for breakdown. Quite standard but not frequent.

I honestly can’t tell is the set virtual or real? Looks good.
