They just played the new opening music over the old full opening and it looked terrible.

No, they were the new titles, but an extended version, as they're on location, so no newsroom shot.

Still looked terrible. The music matched up at the beginning in this version but not at the end.

Glad to see there's a full-length version of the titles for such occasions.

Thanks for remembering News 24 during that period.... I would ask when did the Breakfast branding took over the Saturday early slot?

I think this was discussed in the old thread and is a little off topic but to recap, Weekend 24 used to run 8-9am on BBC2 on Saturday mornings from shortly after the launch of News 24. This continued for many years but post-Breakfast launching in 2000, they'd just change to News 24 branding at 8 on a Saturday morning (W24 never appeared in the titles in that era!).

Following the September 11th attacks the weekend BBC1/2 slots weekend were extended. Previously N24 had been billed overnight till about 7am which meant that although Breakfast was there for the last hour, it wasn't billed. This changed in late 2001/early 2002. The Saturday slot however now became totally branded as Weekend 24 despite being virtually identical to the Sunday edition bar the titles. Over time they started bringing in some of the Breakfast format as seen in that clip. When the 2003 relaunch happened I do remember seeing "Weekend 24" text going round the globe once, but that didn't last long.

I'm not sure exactly when Saturday became Breakfast but it might have coincided with Saturday CBBC moving to BBC2 at the start of 2006 giving the programme a consistent slot, but might have been a little earlier.

David Lowe's website is down at the minute, (just saying)

So as expected. Today has been the first time the channel has been in full 'Breaking' mode over a long period of time, since the move on Monday.

I haven't had chance to watch much of the channel as I've been co-ordinating the coverage for the radio station I work on.

Have there been any problems/issues/gremlins at all?

Edit: I've just seen the titles music and sequence in full without the studio pan. The visuals and music not marrying up is even worse. It looks awful and spoils the whole rebrand.

At 9am, the countdown crashed into a static Budget graphic at around 45 seconds. After around ten seconds of silence, the headlines started early.

Those longer titles with no newsroom shot does not work with the new TOTH music.

They should have just changed to the live shot of Big Ben when they normally go to the live newsroom camera.

You will be sorry to hear that the ticker crashed earlier, and was stuck frozen on screen for a short while...

That's it then - they might as well have not bothered with a rebrand at all. I'm sure Newswatch will be getting a stern email soon.

It doesn't look that bad - in fact, I thought they looked quite good.

I'm surprised more people haven't complained about the smoothness issues when parts of the titles have been sped up or slowed down.
