MBC News in South Korea had a new look last August to coincide with the company's moving to new headquarters. MBC Newsdesk , their flagship evening TV bulletin, had a new look of course. And guess what...

(The adverts between intro and headlines were cut out by the uploader.)

Awful.

People are complaining about the new theme and new headline bed. (To me, it doesn't suit this new BBC-inspired set.) Some have even pointed that new music sounds like a score from Hayao Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky .

They had a tour around their new news room, broadcast on the same day as the new look.

Personal rant here:
Personally, I think this score (composed by Japanese artist Joe Hisaishi) from South Korean history-fantasy series Taewang Sasin-gi (which was brodcast on MBC) would make a good news theme. I also have idea of how should L3s and other graphics look like and animate, but I don't have suitable software and right skills right now.

New look aside, I want to show you how MBC's news department was (I believe) ruined during the time the former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak was on power, but my English isn't that good at all, and I'm not sure I can describe the whole thing very well with no bias.

Well the new set is very modern and big. However compare with the old music, the old one is better.
Also, the Headline Bed reminds me of Tagesschau (The one before the new one). Moreover, the camera zooming seems too fast.
This let me think of BBC NBH Studio C (only the Presenter's Desk part.)

The sequence at the beginning, with the circles pulsating from the news desk, reminds me of VTM in Belgium:

my English isn't that good at all

Your English is excellent!

In Spain, Antena 3 Noticias relaunched last Tuesday, with new graphics, new music, a refreshed set (with a much smaller desk) and new presenter lineups for the 9pm weeknight edition and the weekend editions.

And here's how the set looks like on the 3pm edition:

And back to South Korea, it wasn't just MBC that ditched their longtime theme: SBS' SBS 8 News also got a new theme (and a new opening sequence):

Some rare YouTube finds,

Channel 7 Brisbane, June 13, 1975.

Only 3 months or so since the introduction of Colour broadcasting in Australia, from the looks of the anchor's dodgy wardrobe, they were still probably trying to work out what looked best in colour... And 'Channel 7 Eyewitness News'..... Proably no autocue either, or it was on the blink..

Channels 7 & 9 Melbourne, September 22 1980.

1980 National election coverage, the PM at the time wanting to talk about Cattle, not politics....
