FINLAND -- TV channel Nelonen have started incorporating tape-delayed domestic ITV News bulletins into their weekday schedules. ITV Morning News is shown after the regular children's block at somewhat 09:30 am local time, Lunchtime News is on at the end of the daytime block and NAT at the end of the broadcast day. Starting from 3rd of December, Finnish DTT viewers are able to see English-language television news (other than the state broadcaster Yle's daily 5 minute bulletin) for the first time in five years, when state-owned news channel Yle 24 ceased to exist.

The launch of ITV News on Nelonen will occur simultaneously with the launch of a brand new newscast in co-operation with the leading newspapers (HS, IS), of which I've talked about earlier in this thread. In addition, Nelonen announced that they will simulcast ITV's coverage of America Decides 2012 live on their other DTT channel, Jim, tomorrow night.

IMO this is really great, I've been kinda missing my English news here in Finland.

In Slovenia, a new TV channel, Planet TV will launch on November 5. This pic of the anchors is the closest thing we have to a sneak preview of what its news is going to look like:

As expected, Planet TV did launch today, with its news ( "Danes" -- i.e., "Today") getting lukewarm reviews. The only clip available online is this news promo, which shows the set and a bit of the opening graphics:

Here's an example of U.S. election coverage from ARD in Germany:

If you missed it in the other thread, here's the Slovenian public broadcaster's U.S. election night set -- a virtual set (no, Obama and Romney aren't really standing there) based on the stage from the first debate:

And from France, here's the opening sequence to BFM TV's election night coverage, also showing their set:

So folks, I finally got access to the Sanomatalo in central Helsinki and took some snapshots of Nelonen's new studios earlier today. I gave the news team access to these pics and they decided to upload the set to their FB page, so don't wonder about the links redirecting to fbcdn. Note that the greenscreen hasn't been put there yet (I now wonder if they're gonna use greenscreen at all).

This is where the studio will be located - an old convention room...

The view from the newsroom towards northern Helsinki, with Yle Television Centre and the 500ft link tower in Pasila (barely) noticeable in the background. Not too shabby!
