I know it's the done thing in France but I find that 'not looking in the correct camera distance shot' so incredibly jarring. It's like another crew is filming a documentary about the news and it's somehow ended up in the actual bulletin.

My favorite is the triple box for one-on-one studio interviews— guest in top left quadrant, anchor in top right quadrant, and a two-shot in the bottom half. TF1 used to do it all the time, not sure if they do anymore.

French style presentation is most definitely rife in former French colonies. I've seen similar pres in the Ivory Coast.
