Here's Kanal A in Slovenia (the one using the old ITV News theme, as you may remember), with a special New Year's Eve edition of the news, live from Ljubljana's Old Town, 2009:
That's actually my local news. I don't really like the presentation of it, though. The graphics have shades of navy and black, but they also mix in bright yellow and red, and the set has shades of peach and clashing wood tones. They didn't pull off the clean look very well.
I wish they had gone the design route of sister station WBZ in Boston:

Oh, WBZ's look is definitely something special -- modern, clean, self-consciously different. Still, I also like KCNC's graphics; the blue may be a bit too much, but the yellow, red and black combination is effective, IMHO, as it looks both elegant and distinctly American. But you're right; the set doesn't match.
Note the ABC (Australia) lookalike at 3:25. It's from Georgia (the country, not the US state), and while it's certainly not original, it's pretty effective.
Is the Burmese news intro at 6:25 the worst in the world? Maybe it gets a few points for sheer originality.

I don't know-- maybe I don't care for the current KCNC look because every station in town now uses navy blue graphics with streaks of gold and/or red. Several years ago, the creative departments at the stations were much more creative, and each one had completely unique branding, color schemes, etc.
Alas, if you do like the KCNC look, I have more video on my YouTube Page. I just uploaded some video of some revised teaser and bumper graphics.

Here's another station I really like. WCCO in Minneapolis:
In terms of US local news, WCCO is almost in a class by itself -- superbly modern and elegant graphics and wonderfully innovative music! Too bad they use that "CBS 4" logo, which isn't bad by itself but doesn't fit in with the elegant "WCCO" logo and the rest of the look. Why should a station have two logos? Also, the anchors should slow down their delivery a bit to match the cool and laid-back feel of the other elements.

I don't understand that, either. It looks like they're still stuck in a transition phase. Perhaps they still think it's important to have the affiliation and channel number shown on the screen from time to time, but WBZ would beg to differ!

Looking at what the creative departments at 'CCO and 'BZ do, and comparing it to what I get in Denver, I do feel jealousy. Why can't Denver news (or other stations across the country) look as smart as that? Instead, we're still stuck with tired navy blue graphics on all five stations here.
