Why not just go to a tight shot of the anchor instead of keeping the blank screen on air and apologize for it?

Possibly minimal staffing so nobody available to reframe the shot?

More to the point, why was the screen being fed from a PC? I thought they were usually fed from an M/E bus on the vision mixer.

The current news studio and gallery at SRF are past end-of-life. They were supposed to be dismantled well over a year ago and replaced by brand new all-IP technology. Unfortunately, there are major issues with the new studio and it still can’t be used today.

Is this why we didn't get a new news studio with the recent rebrand? The SRF building was recently revamped and the architects included this image of a sports studio. However, it looks very much like a multi-purpose studio/set. Has it ever been on air? (It's image 5. Sorry, I don't know how to embed the image)

Wow - I'm sure it's not, but can't help thinking looking at those pictures about what a joyless, grey, cold and clinical place it would be to work in.

Depends what the screen is used for. Could be graphics, therefore some sort of Windows platform based engine, which takes any live SDI video from either an ME bank, or router

Well, I can tell by the designs, it's very um abstract.
Could use a lot more colour though, like a bit more red as that's SRF's brand colour.

That's exactly why. They decided to go ahead with the rebrand using the old sets once the delay became too long. The studio seen here is a multipurpose set which will be used for all kinds of news and sports programming. I think more colour can be added using LEDs. But still, it is quite grey.

Geeez, That SRF studios looks like a revamped prison block. Wow. that is awful. Im sorry. It doesnt seem like a welcoming, warm or mentally stimulating workplace at all. Looks like a soul destroying multistory carpark.

I noticed when watching the Canary Islands version of La 1 on satellite on Tuesday that they'd only half switched over on Telecanarias, with the new titles fading into the old backing music for the headlines, which sounded a bit jarring!

Here's the clip on RTVE a la carta -

They seem to have had everything in order since then though. I've not checked to see if any of the other regional centres have switched to HD with this - Madrid and the Canaries were the only ones to be so already, even Catalonia being in quite ropey SD.

I think these TVE news changes are linked with 24H launching in HD on 1st March.

Oh God. I've realised I must have reached peak-brutalist lover. I think the office and set look amazing! However, I love mid century design and proper use of exposed concrete. I'll get my coat. Laughing
