International News Presentation: Past and Present

31 January 1995. A full newscast from KTUU, a station affiliated with the NBC and based in Anchorage, Alaska.

To be fair, it may also look weird if you're not really familiar with non-Latin alphabets. So maybe things look more cluttered.

I mean, when the News Channel wants to they can fill the screen with shedloads of stuff. I don't think it looks any different to NHK's output.

Daniel Corbett's definitely picked up the Kiwi twang. (he was a BBC Weather presenter but moved to NZ)

Comparison:

Suspect the big difference between the BBC and the TVQ sequence is that I believe those BBC opening title graphics were generated electronically live (both key and fill), rather than being played from VT, hence the nice clean keying on the BBC sequence. (The BBC titles generator was slaved to the 1/4" audio tape playing the opening title music)
