The caption identifies it as Typeface Six by Neville Brody.

It's not the font used for news graphics, but it does appear to be the font used for ORF's logos, idents, and some promos.


Looks quite similar, but it's not that font after all.

Interesting! Speaking of military broadcasters, here's what the news on the European version of the American Forces Network -- which once had a large following among ordinary Europeans hungry for American programming -- looked like in the 1980s:

The graphics syle of some of RTL's 1990s intros may also look vaguely familiar; the graphics were designed by Novocom, the same company that created the graphics for BSkyB's channels in the early '90s.

It's not just you; the headline bed really does resemble The Mission. But then again, there are quite a few themes out there that seem to mimic the sound of John Williams' famous composition.
