Well I never saw that coming.....

They certainly are short without Andrea!

I wouldn't say that they are short, as they could give Alex Hybdman/Hill a shout. But its good that they are trying out new faces on the Saturday bulletin.

Where did Alex get to anyway? Did she go when Morning News aas axed?

Pretty sure she still freelances for London, and if so it's a surprise she hasn't popped up on the nationals at some point...

She has recently returned from maternity leave and has presented one late London bulletin the other week. She probably hasn't been seen on nationals for a while because she pretty much went straight from her first maternity leave to her second.

Probably doesn't help that Lucy Meacock is off as well

That VO for Matt Barbet is atrocious! It sounds like Mert Barbet....

What a refreshing change to see Matt. He worked perfectly on both London and nationally, he has personality, a warmth about him and is a fresh face to the presenting rota. Would love to see him again on the main news.

I definitely agree, I think if Daybreak gets the axe next year he could definitely have a future with ITV News. He has got such as wealth of journalistic experience presenting with all the major news broadcasters BBC, ITN and Sky that he would be an ideal presenter for lunchtime, evening and NaT bulletins. It would be refreshing to see him being paired up with the likes of Julie, Mary, Nina and Natasha if he was given the chance.

And Ranvir, for that matter.

Personally I'd like to see him on London. He would be perfect for that.

I think if the roles were still there, I think Matt & Ranvir would be good as the Al & Kate role ie. present the lunchtime news and London tonight together, and stepping in on 6:30 and 10pm news. But that's been abolished in recent times to both single headed bulletins. But I think the two are very good presenters.

Matt was good tonight, using him rather than any other reporter/freelance/regions presenter strengthens the 'news' link between morning and network news, like the BBC do. Also following America and Australia with one of mornings presenters being the networks backup/stand in, eg George Stephanopoulos being considered Diane Sawyer's #2 (in a good way) at ABC, Lester Holt being Brian Williams' #2 at NBC and Norah O'Donnell being Scot Pelley's #2 at CBS.
