I very much doubt they would use Geraint just for the weekend lunchtime bulletin, which can sometimes be as short as 5 minutes. I'm guessing they will stick with using the Morning News or London Tonight presenter

The current evening arrangements are fine, with the Evening News and News at Ten hosts standing in for each other and James and presumably now Nina stepping in where necessary.

I think they really just need one more senior presenter to cover the Lunchtime News at least twice a week and probably give the same person the Weekend evening bulletins too. Personally I'd have put Nina in such a role and then given the London Tonight job to someone further down the pecking order.

It'd be nice to keep to a forum 'rule' of sorts and use the more correct title "ITV News: Presenters & Rotas".

Must the graphic on post 1 be there? It's too big and rather garish.

[/pedantic]

I honestly don't understand the fuss and worry of which newscaster will be presenting what, when they'll be presenting it and why the hell they're not doing a jig directly in front of the desk at the right point in the bulletin. In an ideal world it would have been nice to keep to just one ITV News thread and cut down on the rota discussion... but I guess this separates the crap somewhat. Hopefully all the unintelligible 'discussion' will now keep to this thread. (I hope.)

Anyway, as we're on the subject... I think the tradition of having the most senior presenters on News at Ten should remain. I know ITV couldn't really give a toss about the concept of News at Ten as the 'main' programme nowadays, seeing as it looks like all the others, but it'd be terrible if we started seeing people like Geraint Vincent present it. (Who made that decision, anyway? Does anybody know? I wonder who's in charge of raising reporters to a presenting role.)

Interestingly, they've had a batch of News at Ten voiceovers (with the various combinations) for both Geraint Vincent and Steve Scott ready and waiting since the revamp so seeing them on the programme is a possibility!

To put this all into context, it's worth mentioning that the following should also be the case:

That's how it should be.

that rota is perfect just how it should be go back to the friday days when we had gerriant and nina and james .

I would like to see geriant on News at 10 he did fine doing the big freeze stuff I don't know why people find him irratating and i don't think hes there because of alone his well crafted reports and newsreading make him an asset.

The perfect rota, eh? Goodness.

I'm glad this is easily avoidable.

I think this is the sort of post brekkie boy was talking about.

Ah, interesting indeed - I assumed that recordings of the newscasters' names (e.g., "With Geraint Vincent") would merely be added to "This is the ITV News at Ten" as and when necessary (a last-minute rota change, for example), and that such voiceovers you mention as having been already prepared would not exist. I guess that's not the case then?

Are you sure you're not rajanchavda/itvnewsfan (?)

It makes sense to have the big names (and by that, I mean Alastair and Mary for the 6:30pm news and Mark and Julie for NAT) presenting from Monday to Friday rather than lump Friday along with Saturday and Sunday, which have long been low-key days (as far as the news is concerned) on ITV.

I would like to see geriant on News at 10 he did fine doing the big freeze stuff I don't know why people find him irratating and i don't think hes there because of alone his well crafted reports and newsreading make him an asset.

He appears nervous and twitchy when reading the news, and isn't even half as good as Chris Ship. That's why the ostensible majority on here don't rate him as a newscaster, but credit his reporting skills.

Why am I still posting in this thread?! (I'll stop now before I make my headache worse trying to understand some of the posts in this thread thus far)

What other voiceovers have been recorded? I know you've said previously that one's been done for Lucy Meacock, and Daisy McAndrew's was heard over the weekend - are there any other regional presenters that have them ready and waiting should they be required? The likes of Christine Talbot, Bob Warman, Fred Dinenage (how ace would that be if he popped up!), and possibly people like John Stapleton?

I know it was said in the past that, back in the 5.40 days, they had them for Jon Snow and a few others that were never used. Just curious as to how much of an extent they have gone to in terms of forward planning.
