Although they'd rightly presume that a rolling news channel would be showing rolling news…

Harding ...

. ´The reason I think that is that what we were trying to do was to make a television programme that would live beyond television.'

Now if that isn't a lot of spherical objects I don't know what is. BBC management are so completely disconnected with reality.

We love Victoria, but maybe we get someone like Claire balding in. Yeah totes with some horses in the studio for debates with guests. Yeah, cool yeah. Right, ok. And that is a a confirmed transcript from a BBC meeting Wink
You can imagine a W1A style meeting about how they'd devise the mess that is the mid-morning NC show.

Clearly from this article The BBC apparently regard a show that is rounded down to zero a success! Rolling Eyes

The BBC really are living in cloud cuckoo land. To quote from the article on the link above:

‘Sometimes the news can feel like it tells you what’s happening in Syria but it doesn’t tell you what’s really on people´s minds in Swindon.’

As a result of this programme and the other changes on the news channel, this is precisely what the BBC themselves have created. The changes do nothing to resolve the so called problem on the highlighted text above. Plus personally, to be completely honest, I couldn't give a damn what is on the minds of people in Swindon. Now, if something major was happening in Swindon (or London, Birmingham, Manchester, Blackpool, Cleethorpes or Kirkcaldy or indeed anywhere else in the UK) I would like to know at the time it happens and not after some stupid poxy "lovely film" where we may be lucky enough to have Victoria stumble her way through reading some breaking news like she did several times during today's programme.

Oh - and Victoria has proven herself to be rather stuck up and aloof with her comments on today's programme when she said something along the lines of "What on earth was Kate Moss doing flying on an airline like easyJet anyway?". It may be news to Victoria, but as an ex easyJet crew member, there are celebrities flying easyJet every single day. Just to name a few I met in my flying days: Gloria Hunniford, Nigel Havers, Martine McCutcheon, Millwalls first team, Jason Donovan, "Ricky" from East Enders, "Lofty" from East Enders, David Soul (from the original "Starsky and Hutch" back in the 70's). If I were to go on (and I won't) the list would be well over 100. I will just add one more name though, Charles Kennedy on my final ever easyJet flight - A lovely man who died far too young. Victoria should not be making comments like that as it is insulting to the viewers, passengers and the crew of airlines like easyJet. It may be news to Victoria but Ed Miliband flew easyJet to Ibiza a couple of weeks ago and Tony Blair and David Cameron have both flown easyJet in the past. The days of Celebrities only flying BA are long gone!

I'm sure if Victoria Derbyshire knew people like Martine McCutcheon and the Millwall first team were flying with easyJet she wouldn't have made such an ill judged remark.

Great to know that Ms Derbyshire can relate to her audience who fly on easyjet.

At the end of the show, Victoria moved from the sofa, to be perched on a part of a desk behind a catwalk. I think they should use it regularly.

What I was getting at was that people from all levels of celebrity fly easyJet. Only stuck up twats still think that easyJet and Ryanair attract chavs, where as the smart people have realised that if you are only flying short haul, you do not need to pay £1000+ to BA for a cheap plastic in-flight meal and a cheap bottle of corked plonk. You can take your own snacks onboard a low-cost airline (you certainly can on easyJet) or buy something off of the trolley when it comes through. You make a huge saving and celebrities just like the rest of us like to make a saving from time to time.

And I said that there were over 100 celebrities that I met during my time there, I could have reeled them all off but that would be a huge thread deviation. Victoria Derbyshire is stuck up, aloof and does not connect with viewers. Every day I see comments from people I follow on twitter who all want the show to be put out of their misery, mainly for the reason that they cannot stand Victoria. The only time the show is watchable is when it is presented by someone else - I wonder if the viewing figures were any better last week whilst Victoria was away?

We had a week of Joanna Gosling last week and yet the programme was full of the same misery subjects. VD is only part of the problem, it's the editorial agenda that is the main part of the programme's issues.

And as a current EZY cabin crew member, I can say I've had Kate and Will's on one of my flights!
Considering there is little difference these days between EZY and BA Short Haul flight (I've worked for both) it was a very snooty comment.

Anyway, probably a topic for airliners.net rather than tvforum. lol.

Ahhhh..... Airliners.net Wink

I'm not sure if VDL will be around for much longer. I'm guessing some people at BBC News have recognized that this format was a blunder, especially when it involved replacing Simon McCoy's slot.

On the other hand, there are also some BBC News editors who have their heads stuck in the sand and who will defend this programme to the hilt, whilst viewer figures continue to dwindle.

McCoy will return, IMO.

Ratings for both slots were miniscule. The ratings really don't matter. People are delusional if they think they're going dump one of their few high profile current affairs presenters they have especially given all the fuss the media made about her departure from five live
It's also pretty clear that James Harding and his team couldn't give a damn about the NC.

I give til the end of the Summer (Xmas at the very most) before somebody intervenes and reverts 9-11 back to rolling news.

On a loosely related note taken from Private Eye (if appears the correct way up)...
