GMTV (1993 - 2010)

I admit, I liked the background, it was something different, but not only that, it was something that looked real and was very good quality, when I first saw it, I thought that they had moved into a windowed studio.

I quite liked the set, and still do, it's nice and simple. I did love the first week, with that background, and how they demonstrated their new coloured lights at the top and tail having them flashing, very nice, do they actually change the colour anymore? Presumebly they'd have lighter colours in the summer, and more reds in the winter.

I still find the odd table with flowers on very weird, but it adds something else to the picture I suppose.

The only thing that I would change is that I'd break the sofa into two, a smaller part for the presenters, and then move the part around a bit just to add a fireplace where the GMTV logo is at the moment, and move the sofas so that it can be seen. Maybe embed a plasma into the wall aswell.

It's lovely this year.
The only thing that confuses me is that they are using the GMTV Today sting into GMTV Today, rather than just the plain GMTV one, even though there is one as seen there and used into the news. Very strange.

I prefer that blurred blue background (as shown above). The logo suits it and looks nice on top of that background; shown in the pic above.

The annual GMTV christmas carol 'singalong' promo has made a appearance, not sure if its the first time it's been shown but here are some caps anyway:

The two bits of music are in different bloody keys! How can they get it so wrong??!!?

Indeed. On the note of using the 1998/99 Christmas music, wouldn't it be better to use the background music of 98/99 rather than nastily cut to the current music after the ident music.

I hope the GMTV set gets a makeover sometime in 2008. If I could have it my way, I'd change everything, but given their budget and there attitude of "if people like it, dont change it" I can't see it happening!

About presenters aswell, I really like Priya, shes fantastic! Would like to see her on GMTV Today on the sofa.

Is Ben Shephard not on the 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' trailors? I can't see him..

GMTV seems to be getting worse and worse recently.. Plugging 'text us images of your christmas decorations' every 10 minutes.

I wonder if Kate asked for just to be on Friday's instead of Thu & Fri. Or Fiona wanted to do Mon-Thu? Anybody know - regular viewers must be annoyed!

Focusing purely on GMTV Today, they have plenty of females that can do the show, but not enough males. They don't have any that are genuinely good presenters. As for females, they have Kate, Priya, Amanda, Andrea and Penny who are all IMO good presenters and should be allowed to present more. Fiona Phillips is one of the most awful presenters on TV although she is nowhere near as bad as that lot over on Digital Spy make out.

I would also like a new set and I can actually see one coming in 2008 but I think they will keep the iconic sofa and background. As well, they should sort their graphics out once and for all because they seem to be using about 3 different sets of graphics at the minute.

GMTV is a sinking ship especially with the phone in scams. But I don't think it is too late to save it in fact it is far from in ruin despite what people write about it on forums similar to this one.

As for the Fiona/Kate saga, I think that always happens at this time of year, then when they return in January Fiona and Andrew anchor GMTV Today for 5 days for the first fortnight or so of the new year.

As a regular viewer, its strange to see Fiona do more than three days. Though why we cant have two presenters to do 5 days is beyond me. Or have a three presenter set up, with a third joining after 8.30am

8.30am would be a little pointless as GMTV Today is only on air until 8.38am But I do agree it is strange when Fiona does Thursdays (and the odd Friday).

Speaking of GMTV Today being on air, tomorrow is not the final day for a while as it would have been a couple of years ago. The only days off are:

- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- New Years Day

I have just looked at listings and Andrea McLean ( ) and Cheggers ( ) are hosting on New Years Eve!
