The replacement is called Daybreak. I'm surprised ITV have been allowed to call it that, considering that when TV-am started, their initial programme 6am to 7am (presented by Robert Kee) was called Daybreak, and then the 7am to 9:25 am was called Good Morning Britain.

Keep up Tumbly... this point has been made several times right back before the name was announced!

Not only does TVam not exist any more but the name Daybreak was used in a franchise bid against them in 1991

That's not entirely true. TV-am doesn't exist as a broadcaster anymore, but the TV-am name and logo is now owned and used by Ian White.

There's is someone who uses the name and logo... but it isn't the 80's broadcasting company.

The original TVam became a casino company

Doesn't exist as a broadcaster but according to the TV-AM website:

http://tv-am.org.uk/aboutus.asp posted:
In 2005 the TV-am name and intellectual property rights including trademarks were transferred to Ian White and the new company TV-am (Breakfast Television) Limited, an independent production company and internet reference source, providing accurate information about the station's life as an ITV franchise holder to researchers, media students, programme makers, archive companies and the general public.

Independent production company it may be, but until it actually produces something it's just a name!

Compare it to 'Associated Rediffusion' , the name of which was bought by Victor Lewis-Smith who under that name has actually made TV programmes

Just watched GMTV from the Thursday before it went off air and captions kept appearing on screen saying "Pictures from Daybreak", "Earlier on Daybreak" and "© Daybreak". Were they just testing the graphics?

Vote for GMTV at http://www.nationaltvawards.com

It would be a real kick in the teeth for ITV if GMTV won as Daybreak has been nominated against it! Very Happy
