GMTV (1993 - 2010)

Can't wait to see/hear the next lot of changes tomorrow, should make quite a difference. Anoilyrag, can you reveal any more about the News area/theme tune etc?

The new theme is not a total departure from the old GMTV, however it feels/ sounds much fresher. Also unusual to have Penny on her own in the studio and John in Belfast. I still feel that the start at 6AM should have a longer title sequence though.

Other notable differences, GMTV logo replaced with orange dot on the ticker and the screen in the news area is now portrait.

I really like the new theme music. I agree its much fresher and its so good just to have a brand new package rather than the 2000/2006 theme. Lets see what happens with Lorraines . . . !

Loraine has some insipid theme which is a sort of mix between old and new

They're still using the old NewsHour theme for the website promotions during the news... yuk.

I really do like the new music, but the new news layout is crap.

It sounds far to American. I much prefer the old theme, they should have just stuck with that... i though it went nicely with the new branding. As the saying goes... 'why fix if it ain't broke'?

Loving the new theme, especially Lorraine's. Does remind me of the original version.
Does anyone know if they've gone back to the original composer? ( who was that btw?)

Would like perhaps a more serious version for the news sting.

It's a reorchestrated arrangement of the old theme, brought down (or up, it seems) from B to G.

Quite like it, even if the strings do remind me of five's screechy news theme.

Much better fit, job well done I'd say.

Having watched tellywatcher's Central News bulletin, are Tyne Tees the only region using a GMTV News DOG?
