By the way, Jonathan Karl of ABC News has appeared on NBC-owned MSNBC again. I won't pretend to know what's in these correspondents' contracts that would prevent or discourage it, but isn't it odd that he appears on rival networks for a direct interview?

I’ve seen other ABC persons on Morning Joe such as Cokie Roberts. I imagine the key thing would be is if they’re on air on a similar show at the same time - such as Jonathan Karl appearing on Today while GMA is on air.

It looks like it's happening again with CNN talking head Paul Begala appearing on MSNBC.

CBS Weekend News has been coming from the DC Bureau flash cam but I think they went to LA once or twice using network talent. The CBS Morning News block during weekdays appears to be just a reruns of CBS Evening News back to back. Locally the CBS O&O (like many) rerun Dr. Phil and JIP’d the CBS Morning News in progress but since the whole covid thing it’s just been repeats of the evening news.

Yes, the main early newscast is CBS This Morning. The CBS Morning News, which would usually originate from the Studio 57 Newsroom has been temporarily suspended as to not overwork the DC studio. The national CBSN feed which also would originate from the newsroom is instead happening remotely with technical support provided by the CBS owned stations in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston, who took turns filling in for the national CBSN feed. CBS' New York City station, WCBS-TV also returned back to the CBS Broadcast Center and resumed the local CBSN service.

Fox is to launch an international subscription service for Fox News and Fox Business which launches in the UK on 17 September.

Don't all rush at once!

I forsee a few problems with this.

1. $6.99 is just too much for what are essentially two primary channels, not premier channels, but primary channels, which would normally only pay pennies per subscriber through satellite and cable.

2. The ceiling for Fox News and Fox Business is very low in this country. Around 200k viewers used to watch it weekly on Sky, and their subscription model will be lucky to recieve 10% of those people as subscribers. When Glenn Beck created The Blaze, he lost 90% of his audience from Fox News. I don't see Fox News doing any better.

3. Who really wants to pay actual money for a channel that won't even cover real news???

Sounds like what fellow Murdoch company News Corp. Australia is already doing with its Sky News Australia: the Australia Channel, a paid subscription service for those outside Australia and New Zealand.

They actually did that early on to get a sizable carriage footprint. From a story from the Nation in 2001:

Considering ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) is available for free on YouTube, you’d have to really love the Murdoch worldview in order to subscribe to the Australian Channel.
