In normal circumstances it's standard practice to have somebody in the studio when a programme is being presented from an OB in case the line fails etc.

My guess here is that Milissa Rehberger is in the studio attached to the gallery producing the programme with Brian down the line from home or wherever he is. That gallery is having problems (hence the problems with getting Brian on air).

Lawrence O'Donnell looks to be in a different studio. I think they switched output to that studio either as temporary thing to buy some time to fix the original one or to take over the show.

MSNBC from my understanding runs different galleries for each prime time show giving them time to setup (therefore why Lawrence was able to continue on). But Brian William has been anchoring from home and I think in most organizations outside of bureaus they will have someone on standby in case things go haywire.

Milissa probably just has to be in position at the TOTH in case things like that do happen.

WSB, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta, somehow managed to air the first 10 minutes of a week-old edition of World News Tonight on Sunday, instead of the live programme.

No info on how it happened. Anyone care to hazard a guess?

WSB records and delays WNT to 6:30PM, the show is fed at 6PM. They probably had the wrong video in the playlist.

Also today on WJZ there were some issues likely with genlocking (although the set displays were okay) with the PCR feed. There was a similar issue with audio and minor video disruption last summer that was caused by the last device that inserts the time/temp/ticker that is overlaid in master control. Today I learned although CBS affiliates are hubbed out of Encompass in Atlanta via command and control infrastructure (and I knew the racks are in the station) the master control switcher is owned by Encompass. Of course all the ad inventory was kept and perfect.

Ah, so it wasn't a live feed after all. I thought it sounded like a file mix-up, but couldn't understand how that could be the case if the version they should have been broadcasting was live.

I had no idea the live feed is actually at 6pm - thanks for clearing that up.

Nope, many stations just tape delay it to keep the shows in pattern with weekdays 6:30. Im surprised the previous weeks show wasn’t wiped from the playout server.

MSNBC has just silently soft launched their new graphics package during their overnight news update. It's part of the daytime lineup rebrand happening this morning. They're ditching their "MSNBC Live" branding, for example, "MSNBC Live with Stephanie Ruhle" is re-branded as "Stephanie Ruhle Reports".

Looks promising. I didn't mind the previous graphics, but these look like a bit more work has gone into them. I'll be interested to see the full set - especially the breaking news graphics which, let's face it, are what's on-screen most of the time.
