Harry Smith is leaving CBS News, to join NBC as a correspondent for the new prime-time news programme.

TV Newser

. . . and thus a potential contender to replace Matt Lauer, perhaps.

Harry Smith was popular with the Early Show viewers so that could be a possibility.

On another note I made a video of Meredith's last day on today but forgot to post it:

Although it wasn't as good as their 'I gotta feeling' video (to be expected when doing it live), one of the things I love is the opportunity it presents to show all the hundreds of people behind the scenes. It really extends that 'family' feeling.

And it's very, very well produced. Such a simple idea (a single camera) yet so complicated to actually put together.

Interesting - I wonder if his NBC contract includes regular substitute hosting, like Kate Snow's presumably does? I also note that Savannah Guthrie who's been filling in for Ann Curry all week on Today (I still find it interesting that Savannah substitutes and not Natalie Morales) also anchored 'Andrea Mitchell Reports' on msnbc today, and will host Meet the Press on Sunday. It's hard to see how she won't be one of the main NBC faces in the possibly-not-so-near future.

Rumours on Twitter that AlJazeera's Ayman Mohyeldin has left the network and is moving to NBC News. Big loss for them (if true).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he come to AJE from NBC? Or at least worked at NBC at one time?
