Clickspring Design have done a writeup about their work on the BBC Washington Studio https://www.clickspringdesign.com/2021/01/bbcwashington_2020/

I love that studio. I emailed them as soon as it aired having figured it was a Clickspring design. (the desk wings and red chair gave it away) They were really stoked to receive feedback saying it was really quite rare that they do.

I think Clickspring are the absolute leaders in news presentation design and cannot wait until we finally get to see the Washington studio in full use.

This image from the gallery is my favourite, featuring Lucrezia Millarini for some reason:

I look closely, and I can see Gill Sans on the screens in that screenshot...

No you can't

Look at the reflection on the floor - it's not actually on the screen, it's been added by clickspring. They use the exact same image on one of their renders from before the studio was built.

Indeed, you can even see a small triangular area on the right hand side of the desk where the overlaid image is where it shouldn't be.

I can't see it, can someone point it out.

Just makes me wonder what they could do with the tight space that is the BBC Breakfast studio, seeing as this is so versatile despite the constraints!

That set is a decade old this year - once COVID eases let’s hope there’s talk of a change.

Frankly, the BBC Breakfast studio was awful when it was launched and...it's still awful now. It needs a change urgently.

The Washington Bureau studio is a converted office space and has always been a bit of an odd shape as well but look what they've done with it

That new Washington studio really is the bees knees, isn't it? So fresh and modern!

Also before all of the "lets move BBC Breakfast into a new studio" brigade gets vocal. Don't forget what size studio BBC North West Today had before in New Broadcasting House in Manchester had - a studio in similar size to TC7 - before the move to Salford. FYI: Just that is the thing is it seemed we were promised a bigger studio than what we ended up with too.

Here’s a wacky idea is there no way Breakfast could use the match of the day set, that would look amazing with a sunny virtual studio.

Why not just update the screens in the existing studio similar to the ones BBC Leeds got and put that kind of imagery on them?
