Bizarre that there was line-flashing or similar break-up on the server playout ports. Very unusual for a fault like that to appear after sustained acceptance testing. There is a law that these things always happen on launch day though...

Was it me or did some a couple of the shots in the titles also appear to have a whopping PAL footprint on them?

A lovely flat floor in the closing wide - but not sure that so many different coloured "white" elements is a great idea if they don't match each other. The projector, the LCD screens, the LED light boxes and the rostra were all very different colours, yet all supposed to be white.

Apart from those few minor technical niggles - it's great to see Plymouth finally get a decent technical set-up. Always felt sorry that they were stuck with a late 80s/early 90s core - albeit with 16:9 cameras and server playout grafted on.

First impressions that it looks like BBC London's set with the balcony and two monitors with much more room. If only BBC London still had the large screen for the weather instead of what they have at BH.

Not to sure about that music. And also what is the animation meant to be on the left on the closing shot?!

BBC London have been at BH for quite a few years now since they left Marylebone High Street. They are in their second BH studio now. Their first BH studio is now the home of The One Show. Suspect you mean their previous BH studio?

Presumably the closing shot for Spotlight will have David Brain standing in front of that screen after doing the weather (doing his traditional closing shot wave) so might still have the weather on it rather than that animation.

Yes, that's correct, what I should have made clear was when they moved into Studio D. Their old studio is V if I recall?

Spotlight has the advantage of that space for a large screen forecast. BBC London should do their forecasts from the balcony used for the weather or the Outside Source touchscreen.

Yes, the space that BBC London had a temporary studio in when they first moved to the Broadcasting House site is now called Studio V, though it wasn't called that when BBC London were in there.

BBC London are on their second BH studio, though they have retained the same gallery location for both.

Isn't it BBC London's third studio? They were in studio A for quite a while.

Am I getting confused? I thought originally BBC London gallery was just outside some radio studios. Has it remained there? I'd presumed they'd have found a more conventional home - especially as it was used by news channel and network bulletins the other weekend.

Having a gallery in a different part of the building may be quite handy for disaster recovery.

That wasn't really their studio - they were camping there...
