Thanks to the BBC News strike, ex-GMTV presenter Emma Crosby presented the 1 o'clock news. If the BBC trust her with that job, I think that shows ITV how hasty they were when sacking most of the GMTV on-air team. Go prove ITV wrong, Emma! Smile

While I happen to agree, I think they would have trusted any old person with the One today.

'Broken' ITV flop in 'name change'

Bosses have already told staff to answer phones with "ITV breakfast" and may make the switch official.

Tainting the show with ITV's name is certain to bring viewers flocking. In other news:

Adrian Chiles to get own chatshow

An ITV source said: "It will be built around Adrian's personality, so it will have humour and be thought-provoking."

I doubt either story is true, full of 'a source said'

The Sun can't run with the 'Daybreak losing viewers' angle this week so have to come up with other stuff to keep the anti-Daybreak agenda going.

Bosses no doubt answer the phones in Manchester with 'Hello ITV Studios', does that mean they are renaming Coronation Street?

Hmm - not quite sure I follow that logic. The BBC bunged her on because she would break a picket line, can read autocue, and ask a couple of questions tolerably - don't think you can read anything more into today than that.

people aren't going to watch a show they don't like just because of a name change, I can't stand I'm a celebrity so I not going to suddenly watch it if they call it rumble in the jungle or something

Let us not forget claims that a Bill actor was in full uniform, mugged, robbed of an ASP and later done for impersonation "close to the studios" in Ilford (there's miles between Merton and Ilford!), that was all "a source said" all the way through. The extras didn't even have batons!
The Sun always fabricate stories.

Wow is it really as easy as that?

I highly doubt the general public will care if it's called Daybreak, ITV Breakfast or Live Goat Slaughter; they'll watch it if it's worth watching. Renaming at this stage is pointless.

Few changes to Daybreak this morning. The shot for the news has changed to include the screen. Looks good. Looks like someone is listening to me at Daybreak!

One thing that is really doing my head in now though - The clapping when the guests come on. WHY?! It reminds me of a show... ooh, I don't know, The One Show maybe? It's so stupid. My TV goes on automatically in the morning, and I woke up to the clapping. Sounded more like gunfire! Thought World War 3 had started!

Over reaction much? What you heard was a few people clapping and hollering.

Daybreak will never be settled as such, I'm sure GMTV were always trying out new things.
