I don't believe Lorraine will actually run until 09.30, It will probably end at 09:25 followed by an ad break and an early start for the next programme.

I understand they've not been told, and are now planning to crash out of Lorraine at 9.25 every day with the script "OK, that's enough from London. Now for something decent from up here in Scotland / Ireland - here's some adverts."

If they're changing the franchise times, surely they'll need approval from STV, UTV and Channel, as well as permission from Ofcom.

I think what's more likely, as a previous post said , is that Lorraine will finish at 9:25, and the next programme will start at around 9:30 (so technically, Daybreak will still be finishing at 9:25). At the moment, Jeremy Kyle is in a 65 minute slot, and that would probably be reduced to a 60 minute slot.

The £1.5m relaunch will include new music and graphics along with a new studio overlooking the River Thames which will be equipped with technology for high-definition broadcasting.

Chiles and Bleakley will be joined by a team of special correspondents with the aim of bringing viewers a more news-led show along with entertainment, human interest and sport features.

ITV Director of Factual and Daytime Alison Sharman said that the rebrand had been planned since ITV bought out Disney's 25P% stake in the show last year.

"Since acquiring GMTV we have carried out a thorough review and set out to transform and significantly invest in a business that had been lagging behind its competitors in recent years," she said. "Change, both on and off screen, is an essential part of the process in our bid to reclaim the top breakfast show spot."

She added: "We want to ensure that the core audience of housewives with children keep watching but are also determined to attract new viewers to our revitalised breakfast show."

Lorraine Kelly's current slot will also be rebranded as Daybreak Lorraine.

The 50-year-old presenter said: "I love breakfast TV and I am absolutely delighted to be continuing with my own show! I am also very lucky to have an incredibly talented and hard working team and we are all looking forward to September."

not sure what to think about the logo.

Makes sense to change the times to the half hour - always seemed a bit strange. Although it will be listed as such- it'll proberly end up being near enough the same times anyway because of ad's. There've proberly not changed the franchise times , just come to an agreement with STV etc to list it as I think they prefer things to end on the hour, :15, half past, :45.

Surely the franchise is only off-screen though, now that ITV have full control of GMTV and England's channel 3 license - so could theoretically broadcast "Daybreak" 24/7 if they wanted. All it means is STV and UTV have the right to opt out at 09:25? Presumably they don't have to have an actual end to programming under Ofcom's rules, too? So theoretically they could end the morning franchise mid-sentence should they want?

I have to say I don't like that - I don't like any of the brand. "Daybreak" feels like a UKTV channel to me and that logo - the colours and the font - feel poorly designed and reminds me of a "family friendly" line of products Sainsbury's used to sell. I'll wait to see it on-screen, though, and for all we know it will change.

Also according to the GMTV site
"The perfect follow on to DAYBREAK, LORRAINE will be the home of celebrity interviews and inspirational stories from exceptional people." - So it might just be called "Lorraine"? Which is better I think.
