Was anyone watching gmtv in the Wales area?
at around 8:07am when ITV WALES NEWS was supposed to do their bulletin, instead a testcard appeared with a hell of a high pitch beep. It displayed HTV PLC on the top of the testcard. Shortly after that we went to a gmtv caption which played a loop of the gmtv 1993 theme tune.
So we didn't get the bulletin in the end we went straight back to gmtv today at around 8:10.

Yes I noticed that when I tuned in for the 8.05 bulletin, it was supposed to be Phillipa Meaken on GMTV Wales yesterday as well, couldnt it have broken any other morning when Andrew Jones presented. Smile

Yes that is what is played out when we normally see a bulletin.

So is this the feed which we see on some regions on the plasmas?

Yes it must be. Noticed the Central region have from time to time been slow with the opt out too.

When you say TT are slow to opt out, that's done by London now isn't it?

Tyne Tees, Border, Granade and Yorkshire are dealt with by the Northern playout centre at YTV in Leeds.

Correct, but AIUI during GMTV's ad breaks, the adverts are controlled from London, as they take the Channel 4 and Five approach for having Regional advertising, which I believe is based on about 5 regions and not the ITV approach of 14.

I think it ranges from the 9th to the 15th of December, not the 1st AFAIK.

I always thought that it was the second week in December. Don't they usually do Christmas for 3 weeks before? The same week that This Morning, etc do theirs (though they end a week before Christmas!).

I wonder if they'll make a special christmas version of the newshour and gmtv today titles. I hope they use a christmasy theme tune is well.

How come they haven't made a version of the Newshour titles that doesn't feature Penny & John ?

Yeah that's stupid, I hardly see Penny and John present together, it's either Penny and Andrew or Andrew and Kate or John and Kate.

I suppose gmtv want to present Penny and John as the main anchors.

Very true, and I also thought that it was very strange on Monday morning. But wouldn't they have had to have made many versions, or just one with plain squares.

As for Christmas, according to an advert running at the moment (saw it for the first time today), they are beginning their Countdown to Christmas on Monday (which is usual, so that their are 3 weeks of Christmas on air, before Christmas).

As for special titles, they usually add snow or snowflakes to GMTV Today, as for the news hour, I doubt that they would have Christmas titles, as it's meant to be a news programme (even though it's as entertainment based as the rest of the programme).

I'm sure that last year it was just a case of big snowflakes on the titles and the two trees in the studio.
I'm sure somebody also posted an image from an old GMTV Christmas where the studio looked tremendously full of decorations.

I think we'd all like to see something great, a Christmassy version of the Today tune, even if it's just a few bells, and as suggested last year, flying up a tree with the presenters in bauballs (would work well in my opinion), but I'm not sure what to expect.
