Which floor is the News department on?

Finally found it. https://goo.gl/maps/xzcueyxGFXe7XBoR7

I used to know all these at the time but memory now fades...

So that studio is N8, and at the time of these images being taken (2012/13) was home to World News. And N8 was the former News 24 studio used 2003-2008, before they moved to N6 with the rest of the domestic BBC One bulletins?

World previously was in N9 was (circa 2000-2008?) and that is where the so-called bumper car desk - that everyone seems to hate but I think looks great - and also within that area was BBC Four News/The World and a sports desk behind the cameras? So is N9 viewable on Google maps?

What other gems are there? Here is some old Breakfast News branding on the cupboard doors https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5111606,-0.2252429,2a,15y,104.62h,84.71t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1sjYrd7d6_l9w8uU0qo4grSg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i43

This is TC7 for Breakfast and Newsnight?

Looks like Sophie Raworth to me. Maybe she was asked to sit at the desk to pose for the camera?

Edit. If you move around, there's a side on shot without the face blurred and it looks very much like her.

It's definitely a stand-in, whoever it is. Note the lack of laptop on the desk...

This was February 2013 - World had moved in January. If you take a look at N8's gallery at https://maps.app.goo.gl/DigpCQJAzBjfX3Tg9 , you'll note that (a) it's empty and (b) you can see the new style ticker on the off-air monitor.
I seem to remember the gallery was left powered up for a few months after World vacated it, presumably as a hot spare.

If you turn around in that gallery room, you can see some mock ups of various studios similar to what you find in the Gallery of TVF!

Some very productive meetings happened on the fourth floor...

Ooh, they're mock-ups of Studio B, some of which were seen on here before the move. I especially like the one where Studio B is in 'The Hub' branding and in marker someone has written 'Global' on top of the screens, as of course The Hub ended/was replaced with Global.

Speaking of which, didn't someone say on here around the time of the move that The Hub was due to get some really nice sounding new music for the move? If so, I wonder what happened to it!

I would LOVE to work in a building like Television Centre or Broadcasting House.

God that studio looks like crap.

Yes, N8 and N9 certainly didn't look great in real life. Both were essentially converted office space, so weren't proper studios as such. At least N6 and TC7 were proper studios.

I’m also just talking about the general condition things worn down, the rats nest of wires, dust etc.

Was the newsroom air conditioned? I’m seeing a lot of fans.

Just wanted to point out that Google Maps and Earth have a full street view of the inside of TVC, probably taken in the era around 2009-2013. It's basically a 360 degree view of anywhere in the building, including the newsroom. Just go onto Google Maps and drop the street view 'yellow man' somewhere in the building. Apologies if this has been mentioned recently, just wanted to point it out incase anyone was interested.

I saw N8 and the main newsroom within that quite a while ago, and the N6 gallery, but had no luck finding either N6 or N9 Laughing

You cant get to N6, Probably because it was being used. I don't know about N9.

Is that Sophie Raworth presenting BBC World News in N8?

Yes, don't know if its World News or something else.

Presumably the screen is showing the output of the channel the studio is broadcasting to. In which case it is not world as world wouldn't have displayed the .co.uk web address.

If you think that's a rats nest, go have a look in CCA Smile

True, but that’s a bit expected. Also how many of those wires could be removed as they transitioned from analog to SDI based workflows?
