I think it's somehow very typical that there was the hype around John Newman and then it turned out to be his lesser-known brother!

A friend of mine has found a video of him singing live and it's...... not good!

Listen at 30 seconds.... ouch!

Germany, just like the UK, has had an internal selection for a long time. The song was released a few minutes ago:

The UK Entry for Eurovision 2020 is

James Newman - My Last Breath

I don't see why everyone seems to think this song is terrible on Twitter. It's not bad - saying that, it's not good. It's just really mediocre. And this'll get us maybe 20th at a push.

I had to listen a couple of times before finding it catchy. Something that a lot of people watching won’t do, their first and only listen could be on the night. It’s a decent song though.

I don’t think the Ken Bruce introduction to the song helped when naming brilliant pop songs and artists.

I agree. They're are an impressive team of songwriters who have written many hits for well-known artists. The problem for the UK at Eurovision isn't getting decent songwriters involved, it's getting even halfway well-known performers involved.

And on the other side Greg James introduced it declaring he wasn't a fan of Eurovision.

Greg approached it brilliantly having two different listeners appearing after the debut of the track, one who was a eurovision fan and one who wasn’t. The fan said that he could see it winning but it is no Euphoria, and the other caller said that the song plodded on and didn’t really go anywhere. The later caller apologised for being overly critical, but Greg reassured her saying that’s what he wanted.

Nice to see James Corden recognising Nanne Grönvall’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’ from Melodifestivalen this week.

The hype surrounding Daði Freyr and the Icelandic entry really is unprecedented, manic would seem appropriate. Whether it can hold for ten weeks is the big question.

Also Russia announced yesterday they will be represented by the band Little Big

They didn't announce the Song yet, but just to give you an idea what their music sounds like this is their most popular song, wich went absolutely viral in Russia:

I prefer Go Bananas.

They're like an arthouse Aqua.
FBC, mici0123 and Josh gave kudos

I'm definitely more on the side of the Russian band, but I wouldn't put your money on either Iceland or Russia. The entries will be far too similar and simply split the vote. Wait for Cyprus. That's all I'm saying!
