Breakfast using this rather terrible set-up for their CPC coverage.

You'd think they'd use the Politics Live desk while they have it at their disposal, like Newsnight.

We all know how Breakfast lacks common sense when it comes to presentation.

I love the way people here, who have no idea of the constraints teams are working with on the ground, love to jump to conclusions. I can think of a number of reasons the Politics Live desk may not be available or suitable, and none of them revolve around lacking common sense...

Nice tweet from Dan Walker aimed at the opposition after the opposition tried to hijack his slot today with a megaphone.

No names mentioned, mind you.

It could easily just be a stylistic choice, Breakfast isn't known for presenting from a desk, so they're using something broadly similar to the area they present the Business from.

Odd choice to have Dan presenting from there I thought and Louise in the studio.

In view of the times that Breakfast is broadcast, when the conference isn't actually in session, wouldn't it have been easier to bundle the guests into a taxi over to MediaCity 3 miles away?

Highly unlikely, given that Media City use only disposable cups for beverages........

I guess the thinking is it seems more live and dynamic actually being there even if nothing's going on at the time - rather like the way the national news programmes will broadcast from outside an empty Houses of Parliament rather than their studio less than 2 miles away. Not saying it's right, but that appears to be the way it is these days.

The Marr show stuck Boris J into a taxi, and took him to Meeja City, but then it might have been difficult to
bring Angela Rayner into the Tory Conf !!

There was mention in the Poltico London Playbook this morning that Breakfast had been using bar stools at that table, but the Prime Minister's team insisted on him having a high backed chair - might explain why they look a bit low, improvised and office-like.

Edit - Indeed, if you look at the start of the programme on iPlayer, they were using stools that at least matched the table and so looked a little more professional.

The interview with the PM meant that the 7:55 regional news and 8:00 headlines were thrown way off schedule.
