Noticed in the added time at Japan v Senegal, the big screen in the stadium stopped at 90 minutes. Is that normal?

I don't know about at the World Cup, but that is normal for the clock at Anfield. It stops at 45:00 or 90:00 and never counts up how much injury time has been played.

4K HDR Experiment 'Restricted Trial'

Has anyone suitably equipped for 4K UHD been denied a stream yet? I've not.

A colleague said he got on the stream for Portugal v Spain, then switched back to HD for comparison, and couldn't get back on the UHD again shortly after kick-off.

Seems odd given the peak demand for that match was well below Tunisia v England. Might be explained by the fact that it was the first 7pm game they were streaming so were a bit conservative numbers to test the load.

I’ve had absolutely no issues getting onto any of the streams, including England v Panama today only about 10 minutes before kick off.

Technical problems in the stadium affecting what the commentators see on their screen might affect the England match.

Are the commentators in the stadium or off tube? I guess there would have been a 5 Live feed ready to fade up or even the world feed if required.

Wouldn't have made any difference, ALL the commentator monitors in the stadium had intermittent pictures, in fact all monitors I think, because I noticed a couple on the wall outside the dressing rooms, that were glitching away, in that 'duff DTT signal' kind of way.

I think itv has picked the wrong match.

Not quite.
You can see ITV's pre tournament thinking in that, England would probably get a draw against Tunisia, and beat Panama, and therefore, need a draw or win against Belgium in the last group stage game.

As they get first dibs on the next round of knock out games - it was a 2 for 1 decision. Pivotal last group game, and a knockout match back to back.

Still think they'll be happy back at 200 GIR.

However, 2 games 2 wins was always the risk with that strategy.

I think itv has picked the wrong match.

They’ve done alright. They got a guaranteed England primetime game, which could have been vital and even if it wasn’t (as it turned out), they then have England for another game in the last 16.

Peak yesterday was lower than I’d expected but then I’m sure many were out and about in pubs etc.

Why is it always assumed that ITV have first pick and have a choice of all the picks?

If the BBC picked game 1 already then game 3 was always the only option.

Standard for all time displays in football stadiums (you might get something indicating the number of minutes' added time, but that is all). Pretty sure clubs have been fined in the past for showing the seconds tick past 45/90 minutes.

Similarly, stadiums with big screens aren't allowed to show replays of "controversial" incidents.

I agree. They've got what's effectively the first place decider, and first pick of Last 16 - England have a fairly easy group, it was always highly unlikely that they'd fail to get out.
