Do Germany alternate the rights by day like the Olympics? ARD and ZDF have also sub-licenced 25 games in Ultra HD to Sky.

Well I've managed to catch up on the opening match.

Initial thoughts on the ITV studio are that the trick "window" overlooking Red Square looks really impressive, much better than I was expecting. It's a very nice studio design all round, with enough detail to look interesting even when they're not using the shade for the 3D graphic overlays.

Presentation wise, there's very little consistency to the design (again!) - I think I've counted six different typefaces in use so far. The tithes are nice, but they lack clean break points, so you're left with lingering end shots that look a bit less professional as a result.

I'm a big fan of the FIFA/world feed match graphics, although the "flipper" animation they use for multiple goalscorers could have been implemented better.

France rights are shared between TF1 which showed the opening match and beIN.

ITV’s set is a bit of an assault on the eyes, isn’t it? So much going on. The VR roof seems to work pretty well though.

Not sure the BBC’s is doing much for me either. Nice enough but all a bit space-age and quite dark.

The BBC’s titles are very impressive, even if the music is instantly forgettable.

Give me Des in front of the Eiffel Tower on a nice, bright simple set any day!

I saw the ITV studio on a small web feed across an office floor earlier today and was very impressed with the high windows, I couldn't tell from the distance. Whilst it is easier to tell from a larger screen it is still a very clever set up in my opinion and the set is in keeping with the country, something I'm not sure I can say for the BBC's.

4K images. Not sure why they are so dark, either my setup or perhaps something to do with the feed TRT have:

My initial thought would be that they're HDR images that haven't gone through the correct conversion process for SDR, but I find it hard to believe that would have made it to air!

(also, having only seen that once, I can't remember if that results in the pictures looking very sat up or very sat down. Either way, the channel bug appearing correctly is probably a clue that it's the feed they've got that's the problem.)

Looks better on the re-run currently showing:

There were complaints from online viewers to ITV Hub who had an advert that over ran and the poor PQ. which I think is 480p on the live stream, which isn't really good in this day and age, when the BBC offer 720/50 as standard.

Even if they offered HD for Hub+ customers, it'd be a start and an incentive to raise revenue during the tournament.

Unfortunately the tradition of the BBC using their own graphic templates instead of those of the host broadcaster appears to have ended.

I hope you are wrong, I was watching the 2nd half of the first match on the itv hub on my phone and the FIFA graphics were unreadable. I only hope the BBC use their own graphics on the live games! Fingers crossed!

Thankfully most graphics are designed for 40 incch screens rather than 4 inch screens.

and is it me, but is the colour way over saturated too?

Have woken early and am now watching the iPlayer version of the overnight rerun of RUS KSA, The PQ is perfect throughout. What the heck ITV were up to yesterday during the live goodness knows.

The BBC’s spaceship studio is very odd indeed with a solitary logo randomly stuck on at the top, the virtual view on the other side is very impressive as is the live view which is better then Fox Sport which seems to have inherit a partial view of a car park as well.

Need to see ITVs effort properly although it looks a little on the fake side from the screenshots posted.
