I think the moment has come to remind certain posters (i'm naming NO names for fear of retaliation) that this is the Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Thread, and as such covers television matters for those who, surprise surprise, receive either Calendar or Leeds/Hull Look North.
I don't want to read endless waffle about other transmitters, history of the land or needless bickering.
If someone wants to start a thread related to topography then feel free...
There's a prime example of people making the mistake of saying that Yorkshire is one county which it isn't. As I said in an earlier post, the county of Yorkshire (made up of three Ridings) was abolished in 1974 and NO LONGER EXISTS!!!
My last post on this matter, because it become boring ages ago -
People are not making a mistake because they are not referring to Yorkshire as a county, but as the body of land that sits north of the Midlands and East of the Pennines.
There are people who refer to geographic areas as well as political ones. Similarly, Nottingham, Derby and Leicester have their own counties, but are also in the East Midlands.
Yep, Calendar is coming entirely from the soft area tonight. I have to say this set doesn't seem well suited to hard news at all with the coffee table and the pink walls.
So, looks like a new look for Calendar is on the cards, probably next Monday then, 19th May. I wonder if graphics / titles changes are also planned, and possibly a new variation on the theme tune ?
How long has the existing desk set been in place, is it 2 or 3 years ? I can't remember.
Yes and it looked even worse at lunchtime with Geoff sat there on the soft furniture
Its an awful soft set at the best of times, those chairs look too low down compared with the chairs on Look North, and Geoff looks uncomfortable on soft chairs just like Peter Levy used to do on Look North's soft area
The current look started in September 2000, with Christa and Mike, Lesley Alexander doing lates and Raj Shukla doing earlies and Christine Talbot appearing before Calendar at 5.30pm with Tonight. So loads has changed during the course of this look!
Well Faye Barker did the late news from the bulletin studio and also I think she did on Friday as well, meaning the desk set hasn't been seen since Friday's Calendar
There was a cockup on tonight's Calendar when the feed to Harewood House was lost, they went back to the studio where Christine and Geoff were busy studying their scripts and not paying attention!
