I’m wondering if England get through ITV might play it safe and ask to share the Quarter with the BBC which would still be a large TV audience and forgo a possible semi-final exclusive.

Even though it would dwarfed by BBC’s ratings I think it would still get healthy figures for ITV and Sweden are a bit of bogey team for England.

No, they'll get trounced. If England make the semi finals and ITV have exclusivity no reason it shouldn't stay that way. Considering the BBC have had the majority of England knockout games in recent tournaments it would be just reward, and also gives them 3 games each this tournament.

If England get through the Semi there is seven games either way because of the third play play off which is ITV only.
The BBC are damned both ways - their critics will attack them for not showing any Semi but will also attack them if they do.

Far too many threads here recently seem to be obsessed with making up a scenario that hasn’t happened that the BBC would apparently get attacked for.
