Very sad news and I'm quite shocked actually. But I guess shes probably just fed up of being Mary/Julie's understudy and isn't actually going anywhere. Emma Crosby would be a very sensible choice. She is brilliant at presenting actual news, just not so good at having the GMTV personality. Shes obviously on her way out at GMTV but already a recognised face of ITV daytime, and this would help them merge the GMTV/ITV News boundaries even more.
I doubt they'll think out of the box though, and will probably replace her with Nina in every sense (on London Tonight and ITV News). Thats if its even true, we might just be reading too much into that.

If it is true - very sad news!! First Alastair, then Matt, then Katie!! Although as you've said we could just be reading too much into that - he could be being sarcastic e.g. she might be having the next few weeks of to present the proms ect.
On another note, Tomorrow's NAT is listed as "News at Ten & Debate Highlights" runing from 10 till 11.
Would be a huge shame if Katie leaves - I hope if she does move to the BBC she regularly appears on tv and not just radio (though I might have a reason to listen to Radio 3!!)
If Katie is going then, as others have said, Emma Crosby would be a sensible choice - otherwise what about Alex Hyndman? Already well known to London viewers, works well with Alistair and has already appeared on daytime ITV bulletins before. Considering Nina's role has been so stripped down in recent months, I can't imagine her suddenly taking over LT four nights a week and ITV News at 1:30 two to three times a week?

Im f****** miffed off about that seriously!! Katie is brilliant and to see her go is just a massive shame London Tonight viewers will now be horrified that another member of its news team is going, as somebody pointed out Alistair, Matt and Now Katie. Not forgetting Alex of course and as somebody else has pointed out she could have the job. Emma is a good choice and Nina is a no go because I couldn't stomach watching her five nights a week. Alex though would be a excellent choice. Getting rid of her from the main 6pm programme was a terrible choice.
Any ideas when she will be leaving?? :'(
And sorry about the bad lauguage im just really upset about this
A huge shame, but really considering how often she's been overlooked for the top jobs it's a wonder she stuck it so long. A waste though if she's just stuck on the news channel - she'd be good as a regular Breakfast stand in for example.
I imagine Nina Hossain will be celebrating and no really need to bring anyone new in IMO (for ITV News at least) - just make better use of what they've got - and develop the potential newsreaders of tomorrow on the lower profile bulletins.
