All this talk about the revamp of itv news, but how long does it take to make minor changes to studios etc , remove yellow panels from the regional desks paint the floor and change the background lighting and or reupholster the sofas,
And I know some regions are getting the new studios right away....
Will the regions be getting new cameras and lighting?
What is the lighting used in the regional studios and how long does it take to change colors ?
Sorry about all the questions but I thought I would ask them at once rather than than singly Confused

1) How long's a piece of string? Annual lighting tests might happen at the same time etc
2) As far as I know no new cameras will be installed but there will be lighting changes
3) The regional studios tend to use low energy studio lighting, some of them use RGB LED lighting which can be changed from the gallery in a matter of seconds, others use gels over incandescent or single colour LED lights, which require a bit of manual intervention

I just hope the bongs are retained and it would be nice to see the "Big Ben" clock face again.

Never liked the current ITV News look tbh and won't be sorry to see it go

Totally agree with all this. The present ITV News look just looks cheap and nasty compared to the rival BBC and Sky News services in my opinion.

Cheap... in comparison to Sky News - really?

They may have a nice set but their clunky 3D opening is surely the definition of cheap, especially compared to how Sky News looked when it relaunched in 2005. I'd say Sky is probably in bigger need of a revamp than the BBC and ITV actually.

I'll be glad to see the back of the ambulance-siren 'nee-naa' music used for ITV News. Hopefully the new theme/arrangement will be more authoritative.

I really like the current music - it really does sound a lot better on our surround sound than the tinny TV speakers. Not a problem for BBC News, where all you need to hear are the beeps.

The thing i dislike most from the current set is the yellow panels in the desk when the camera moves the panels move away from the desk and then you can tell its cso . Exclamation

So I'm expecting them to launch the first ITV News at Ten of the new look with an exclusive Rageh Omar report.

They usually like to do that kind of thing with a new look. Think they did it with the new look News at Ten.

You may be right there, Rageh has already finished compiling his report for Monday.

The relaunch of 2008 with an exclusive to launch the programme, also happens to be the same day and date Monday 14th January...

I'd forgotten how fantastic that look was, such a shame they binned it after less than 2 years. It suited a modern News at Ten perfectly and I always loved those virtual glass panels they used on intro shots.

I'm hoping this forthcoming relaunch is going to provide us with something new and fresh like that again, as Lightwell are involved I imagine it's going to look great!

Who remembers this nifty touch screen from News at Ten?

Didn't last long did it ? A bit gimmicky, and all that pressing interrupts the flow of the report. I wasn't a fan.

I know technology like that is commonplace though on Sky Sports.
