Is their any particular reason why they use B when simulcasting coverage? Surely C or E offer more flexibility and also don't require manual camera operation (as B does)?

Presumably because the staff are already in Studio B and ready to go at that time of day anyway. Plus it looks like C was not available this afternoon because of rehearsals for Business Live.

E probably needs to stay on standby in case of a more major UK story breaking. C needs maintenance or may need to be used to film Hard talk (or indeed those rehearsals)

Seems to be a policy decision now if a major non-domestic story occurs the News channel throws to World immediately. Not sure whether this is ;compliant' with its remit.

Is simulcasting for breaking news normal now then?

Doesn't this mean that the channel becomes a one story channel as all domestic news that was important up to then is dropped? Haven't they learnt anything from the death of Nelson Mandela?

Because of the time of day, the domestic crew were ready to take over should the need to split occur. A separate news broadcast did happen on BBC One at 1 and 6, and by the looks of things not much else happened today. It makes sense for World and Domestic to simulcast because they can share correspondence and guests more efficiently.

Last time, the Charlie Hebdo situation, World and domestic teams took it in turns to produce each hour. I'm guessing that didn't happen today?

12-3 the GMT/Impact team, 3-5 the Global team, 5 o'clock the '5' team. 6 o'clock, the Outside Source team

Odd start to the News at Six. Supposed to start with Clive in France but ended up with Sophie in London.

Looks like they lost the link to Clive, Sophie presenting single handedly

9 o'clock headlines advert for the 10 o'clock news came from a newsroom balcony, or greenscreen of it, with fiona bruce. Is that weird? I thought it was!
