Saturday 13th Dec sounds about right 2 weeks before christmas

See above your post. If they're showing Christmas pres for a programme on the 9th, it pretty much guarantees starting with Strictly on the 6th. Which should mean a festive trail tonight or tomorrow night?

And is that a BBC One announcement at the start of the Halfords ad?!

I noticed the Halfords ad too! Made me smile. Sort of suggests that everyone just watches BBC1 at Christmas. You can hear a continuity announcer saying "It's going to be a cracking Christmas here on one!"

Try and catch the junction out of Strictly tomorrow night for your first glimpse of Christmas on BBC1- then you have just another 7 sleeps to go...

Well, it's nice to see the Robins resurrected after Noel Edmonds blew them to smithereens! It is curious though all these digging out of old idents. I have a theory as to why they're being used but not sure I should say what it is incase I'm right!!!!

Bravo for your announcement before The Two Ronnies Sketchbook earlier. Made me chuckle.

That and playing around with the Robins and it looks like you've had rather a fun night!

OK, here's my theory as to why BBC1 old idents are being used. They're being used to demonstrate that BBC1 has always been the place viewers go to for their Christmas entertainment. I can imagine a family sitting around a television at Christmas and on TV is a classic Christmas ident which changes as the family gets older and eventually it brings us bang up to date. Perhaps a tagline saying "BBC1 - Always home for Christmas." That would be a really nice celebration of Christmas on BBC1 over the past few decades. I wonder if I'm close!

Ha ha. Wicko- you'll just have to wait!

Thanks RDJ, how obvious was it that both of the voices were mine?! You wouldn't believe how complicated that was to make in a continuity suite!

Why did I know you would say that!!!? Very Happy Anyway, cheers for the tip off and I'm sure we'll be watching tomorrow. Incidentally, I didn't notice immediately that both voices were yours, but it was possibly the most cheery continuity announcement I've heard for a long time!

Thanks Duncan. Not often I record a continuity off iPlayer so fingers crossed my program still works Smile

Nice idea for the christmas trail Wicko! If this isn't what they're going for today then they should certainly think about it for next year!
