Its a good book, written by Martin Lambie-Nairn himself, and talks about Channel 4 and various other projects from the late 80's and 90's.

I think I prefer this years idents cyclon6. Although I liked the wrapping paper idea, the new set are not quite as simple. Having said that, the idents of 93 were simple and I loved them!

Have you any feelings towards the BBC2 1993 Christmas Idents? For me they are stunningly superb. Would love it if they used them again. I agree about 1993 Polar Bear ident, it was simple but extremely festive. Mind you, I'm still a little partial to the 1992 toy ident. The last Christmas tree ident was in 2005 and that was kind of creepy!

The overall presentation in 1993 was great. The trailer animation was very good. The identity worked because of that lovely music. Pity the animation got stuck on day 1. Very Happy

1994 was good too as I liked how the '1' was a present that was unwrapped on Christmas Day. A simple idea but it worked so well.

I always thought that 2005 was creepy ident with that music and it would've been perfect to introduce a Tim Burton film like Charlie And The Chocolate Factory....but ITV had it!

It was creepy, but the 1978 Santa head is the only ident ever to give me nightmares! Honestly! It freaked me out! Thank goodness that only aired for three days! Yuk! Goodness knows what they were thinking with that one.

Of course, the best idents in my opinion were 1998 - I said that last year and I still like them lots!

They were awesome! A lovely red bauble against a gloriously sparkling background! Just simply festive!

Excellent. Possibly the classiest ident ever to be seen at Christmas!

You're right. 1998's bauble was a simple idea, but beautifully executed. And easily reusable, even now...

Say what you will about 2005's tree ident, but I rather liked it. Perfect for the time, shame that Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was never shown on BBC One though Razz
