Progress update:

I'm currently looking at ways in which to take away those shadows from the text. Having taken them away on some images the text blends way too easily.

Here's my idea (something I'm finding difficult to do):

There would be an image, for example Dallas with the cast, over it would be the information such as time and date. The logo would also be over the image. The majority of the image would be darken except the part inside the five circle which would be clear. I have tried experimenting and it just doesn't look right. I even tried it in sony vegas but again something is missing.

As for after effects it's a serious no go. I'm already confused on what to do with the images above and adding Ae to the equation would only confuse me more.

I'll try to present more images soon.

Just not good enough I'm afraid. It's obviously something you're interested in though so my advice would be to work on them away from this forum and don't post any more images until they are at a point where they would look acceptable on TV.

Brekkie, I thank you for your advice. You are right, I am very interested in this.

However, I feel the positive criticisms I have received have spurred me on and have only helped improve my designs. That is why I think it is best I continue to upload in the hope that once I have taken on board all comments they will be to a standard that is acceptable.

With my previous comment now placed and advice taken from all the members I have tried my best with the idea I had a few comments back. Only one image this time... views?

P.S. I have used a different font as you can probably see.

What is the font?

Here is DTV's brilliant marking system. I won't answer the questions because it is his thing, but it is something you can surely answer yourself. I think it answers one of these points currently.

1 - Skill: Simple how skilful is it?
2 - Safezones: Does everything fit in the safe zones?
3 - Looks good: Does it actually look good?
4 - Brand Inkeeping: If it is adding to an already existing brand is it inkeeping with that brands style?
5 - Likelihood factor: Would this ever be put onto the air?

Listen to Brekkie. He is has a point - take some time away - have a practice and continue the mock afterwards. Don't give up, but try to improve.

Hi ASO, many thanks for that I couldn't find it.

The font is called "COCOGOOSE" - do you like it?

What did you think of the most recent Dallas promo? Does the idea of only the clear part of the picture is visible through the logo.

I have honestly really tried with this. I hope it doesn't come across like I don't care about this mock - I really do. I currently have two suggestions for the "coming up" screen that I hope no one minds I upload.

I understand what both you and Brekkie are saying I just feel the comments have allowed me to shape what I do. For example the whole glow and reflections would have probably still been intact if it wasn't for you telling me to remove.

Thanks again.

I think the biggest problem is that you've set out the plan that these are intended to "Giving C5 personality" - and they simply don't. They're just too bland and too safe.

Brekkie,

The concept is great. 'Giving C5 personality' is what you have attempted so well done. The first picture is promising.

I reference Leah who thinks different.

Nevertheless, I can identify areas in which you are correct about the safe thing. To be honest, I'd call them simple not bland. The idea of personality is when using different coloured circles that reflect mood and programming along with the phrases that accompany promotions such as "Texas sized drama".

I really do respect you and your views. When visiting this page before I have noticed your comments on other posts and I agree with them you are a fantastic reviewer. I just ask that you present your comments on my first attempt at this sort of thing as more constructive critique.

I think ASO does like cocogoose - he used it on his mock.

I have been working for a while on these 3 "coming up" screens. The first two are very different whilst the third could possibly be what the second fades into, where possible please give me your opinions. I hope that these are more pleasing that the past images that I have uploaded.

*

This has the intention to present the information needed in the circles used before for their advertisement. As I have shown earlier Dallas has a gold circle and here its timeslot and programme information is contained in a gold circle.

*

I hope this emphasises the personality thing that was brought up quite recently. The colours are vibrant and would project Five as channel bursting with personality.

*

And then, for those who are not a fan of the previous this could be an option. Or, image two could blend into this which allows for a splash of colour before presenting the timings and stuff.

I really hope these are liked. The coming up screen has been the one I have changed most dramatically. I suppose it is trying to find the balance.

Thank you.
