FIVE - a return to pre 2011 Channel 5

Ah right, it is quite a nice font. Leah what do you think of these new designs. I haven't heard any feedback on the latest Dallas one where the image is blurred except in the FIVE circle. I'd be really interested on what you think of this so I can draw up some more?

Also, what is your views on the coming up screens?

Ok, the general census problem is the "personality" thing. You may think the latest coming up images have personality - which would show I was going in the right direction.

I think I shot myself in the foot with the whole "giving C5 personality" I suppose it would be more accurate if it was "personality compared to current branding". To be honest, my main aim - something I should have problem emphasised - is to have a design more favourable than the current branding of the broadcaster. I am not sure if I have done that given the comments and not knowing anyone's views on the current logo of Channel 5. If I was to ask that with the work required - still using the same logo and stuff - would this be preferred to way Channel 5 currently presents itself, what would you say?

Can I ask if the ideas are moving in the direction of "giving C5 personality"?

A bad workman always blames his tools right? Well, personally I think powerpoint is ok. It will never be as good as after effects, photoshop or whatever but it isn't bad. On the other hand it is restricted in terms of what is achievable. Therefore, despite stating that other softwares would be a no go, I think I'm going to have to in order to attempt to satisfy the personality aspect of this mock.

I apologise for the uploading, it's just - as I've said - to receive immediate feedback. I've changed so many things since the first design and that really is thanks to the comments. Without your views, I'd probably still be using the reflections and thinking the designs were perfect.

Colours clash on first pic of this update. Pink gradient overload on second one. Horrible colours with grey on third one.

Could you improve the image quality please? You can change the resolution and export PNGs on PowerPoint.

It would probably be a better mock if you spent more tome between uploads simply to get immediate feedback.

Which of the three would you say should be continued and which should be scrapped? With the first one, the circles could just be the main purple/blue or even minus circles - what would that look like? The second I could tone the pink down and as for the third I get the impression it's just a no.

Do you want these three re-uploaded in higher quality?

The reason behind this is for you guys to select the most favourable to which I can then work to make it even better. That is why for the last upload I provided 3 selections.

I've been working on a sort of programme trail for FIVE.

I'm not sure if it's any good but it gets the idea of what could be. Tell me what you think and I can improve it. I have ideas of adding the coming up screens as well as the other promotions I have shown you.

It's the same one from before - the main one. I'm thinking it looks ok I realise there is areas for improvement but everyone seemed happy earlier.

For the logo, I'm sure you are ok with the circle? However, I imagine either the position or the font is bugging you. My idea was showcasing FIVE's programmes along with the main logo.

I can actually imagine an animation for the logo nevertheless, I've got to be honest, that's the image from earlier not a text overlay when I was creating. Reason: Sony Vegas 12 has a problem - google it - with some texts and harabara is one of the texts that can not be imputed when you choose to "insert text media".

Shall I make another video - or even that one - with some animation of a logo?

How's the rest of the video? Do you like the idea of programming within the circle?

It's the whole thing - it just doesn't look good at all. It's an obvious cheap rip off of the old logo and looks like it.

The promo just lacks the personality you're supposedly basing the look around - when was the last time you saw something as simple as that used by a credible TV station. Even in the 80s/90s they'd have had something going on around the circle as well if they'd gone down that route.

Not saying that the idea is wholly based on the 2008 - 2011 logo but if you look at the name of this post it is called "a return to pre 2011 Channel 5".

The whole personality thing is something that will be added over time once the first bits - like the logo - is perfected. I can add things around the circle but what is got to be said is that could take the attention away from what is going on in the circles.

I must say as for the "cheap rip off of the old logo" you never mentioned this beforehand when I was uploading frequently. I will admit it is very similar and I don't see what the major problem is with that. That logo was very good. Nevertheless, my design has different aspects and builds upon this.

I'm constantly improving but I have to say comments like yours are extremely negative. As time goes on I am prepared to make adjustments - this is only the beginning.

What do you mean you're constantly improving? How many times have you uploaded today? You've not improved much at all, because you're not spending enough time and you are simply rushing. A bunch of pixelated images in a circle is a)very boring and b)completely unlikely for TV.

Spend some more time, thought and effort on this mock. You're not doing these things currently, therefore the mock is not good enough.
