This is a new one, the countdown ending up as the background to Ian Watkins during the headlines, I suppose this was accidently used than the globe background that is normally used.

It looks like Media Boy has erected the tree and hung his baubles - Christmas comes to the News Channel from 0830 this morning.

At 9.56 they had quite a nice camera angle showing the top of one of the trees and slowly pulling back to show Carrie, then showed a short clip of the trees being put up. Still on live replay, I can't capture it I'm afraid.

The lights on the tree in the weather centre seem to be reflecting in the weather screen - making it look like small areas of France will be receiving exceptionally hot weather over the coming days!

There doesnt seem to be a Tree in backdrop at 5

Edit: Although they featured in the new pre-recorded opening titles

We're being spoiled tonight - two opportunities to see Media Boy's special festive bulletin ending. BBC Scotland have their own special bulletin in addition to the one for the rest of the UK.

In previous years BBC News Lead Directors Chris Cook (@Chrisckmedia, aka MediaBoy on here) and his colleague Ross Fitzpatrick (@Kaled10 on Twitter, who has now left the BBC) had a friendly competition to do with special bulletin endings - one did Christmas, the other New Year's Eve.

So is the BBC News bulletin at 11.30pm pre-recorded since we have a BBC News bulletin at 11pm?

No both bulletins will be live. The BBC don't pre record bulletins and I believe the same is true of ITV/ITN -it might actually an Ofcom requirement.
