That information has been common knowledge for a while, why some people have failed to been informed about this is anyone guess.

Yes... Came across these - plus others - several years ago before I'd first heard any mention of it on the forum. And it has definitely been discussed on here since then. I also recall 'Kebab' being spotted in the background of an ITV1 programme and flagged up on here; that's going back a while.

It's a strange situation of very tailored ident music for BBC TWO - and only certain versions - becoming library a while after the fact... 'Gorilla Shadow' only is library; the 'Tantrum' version still remains with the BBC...? Similarly, one ident version of' 'Kebab' is library - the other versions' cuts are not. That's an, er, interesting split-up of the material...

Some of them do have very specific sound design; this doesn't lend them well to general use outside of the original idents, and almost cannot seem to fit anything other than what it was composed for. It's somewhat easier to see how the above mentioned pieces for STV could work when applied to other ideas.

All library are very happy for people to LISTEN ON INTER WEB, it when people want copies and downloads the trouble starts. So don't bother asking.

Unless it's an Audio Network piece, where you can pay less than a quid a track for personal use.

Could we see some vintage BBC2 Christmas idents over the coming weeks? Would there be any surviving broadcast quality footage of the mechanical models or would somebody need to recreate them?

I've just stumbled across this parody of 1970s/80s BBC 2 News and Pres from Dave Jeffrey (and friends)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_tZJGniorA&list=PLE7B59E29A35521A3

Just how I remember it !!

Leave it running, and BBC1, HTV, ITN and Granada parodies follow.

Did that video call Ted Moult a tosser?

Too far! I know someone who will be very upset by that.

EDIT: VERY upset.

Before you start writing letters to the editor of the Daily Mail in green ink, watch it again and note the subtle reference to Pancake Day and then think about the steps that are necessary to make pancakes. Then think about how it could, just possibly, be a jokey play on words and how you might have had a sense of humour bypass Smile

You can pass it off as just a joke, but I think it's highly offensive. I really hope he doesn't hear about this.

Taken out of context it could be seen as offensive. In context, I can't see any other reasonable interpretation than a joke, referring to the whole of that spoof programme rundown, rather than an attack aimed at one individual.

I have to say, that parody is hilarious. Thanks for posting!

Dave's mocks do raise a smile along with always being well-observed... I've laughed - quite a lot - at some of the things added to the voiceover scripts and presentation. But then they are exceedingly good!
David and bilky asko gave kudos

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but Ted Moult is dead.

I'm afraid that is looking increasingly likely. This is from The Times...
