It would be great if Challenge put together an odd-ball slot for stuff like Shafted, Raise the Roof, People Versus (first series), maybe the foreign versions of other shows. I expect the rights holders want too much to make it worthwhile.

I have asked for Shafted, there about 15 epsoide still to see the light of day, I think it would be great.

Would the contestants on the unbroadcast episodes of Shafted have received their prize money? I expect not, and if those episode were ever shown then they would probably need to be paid. Even if the rights are cheap, the prize payout may not be.

I would probably argue the prizes were already paid for and had been collected prior to the first run, paid for by the company and recouped when the broadcaster paid for the show a few months later.
Bear in mind a pilot would have been made originally that would never have been intended for transmission at all, and the prizes for that would have come out of the production company's pocket.
There is usually a clause in the contestant's contract that suggests that the prize will only be paid if the episode is broadcast - it's used as a carrot to make them behave more in a way which they want them to (e.g. come across as completely gormless; need constant affirmation from friends/family of stuff; over-explain the answer you give to every question Eggheads style).
I imagine that ITV paid for the complete run of Shafted (including the 15 episodes as yet unshown) as they commissioned them. I'd hope the production company paid their dues to the contestants who featured in the fit-for-broadcast but not-yet-broadcast episodes, but I guess it's possible they didn't.
Makes you wonder what the contestants of Shipwrecked got...
