Two minutes in to the live coverage now on BBC One, and it's already got me feeling nostalgic for Broken News - or Mitchell And Webb's royal reporter. The stilting delivery from Tim is really grating as he desperately fills, and we already know nothing unexpected or interesting is going to be available for immediate broadcast.

Now it's Rajesh Murchandani (sp?) doing audio description duty. For the love of god, let's go back to the studio and do some actual news!

It's a slow news day, there's nothing else to cover.

Nothing is going to happen for 2 hours according to the press conference.

Now what? 2 hours of filling?

Rescue delayed for two hours. Won't be until 02.00 GMT before we see anything. Wonder who will stay on air?

Kay Burley is going down in the test run.

Apparently, BBC America has now joined the simulcast - they were acknowledged by Matt Frei at the 0000BST TOTH.

Well that was several seconds of awkward silence on BBC News just then. Is there really any point in BBC1 sticking with this when nothing significant will be happening for 2 hours?

Which makes sense since this would normally be World News America now. He also said it was on BBC2, but actually still on One.

Now it feels like I've left one of the rolling BBC News red button things running - another drawn out welcome, presumably for Scottish viewers who've been spared this until now, and now Matt Frei's interviewing his colleague, so we can hear it all again in a slightly different accent.

If one good thing can come out of this (aside from the safe rescue of all the miners, of course), it would be a Newswipe Special.

BBC One Scotland joined at something like 23:30 so they got 30 seconds of Matt Frei wrapping up the previous hour before the clean start at 00:00. I'm sure they could have filled for 30 seconds. They had transmitter information just before that, they could have left that up for an extra 30 seconds.

Say that again?

I find the Sky News football like score box of miners rescued to be rather sick actually.
