Must say I don't see the issue with the Sky graphic in question, as has been pointed out by Sky staff on Twitter it is the one piece of information that floating viewers or people waking up in the morning will want to know, 'how many of the miners are out?'. Had it been in the regular lower third graphics there would have been no fuss made about it.

If anything it is the large HD reminder graphic on the SD channel that could be deemed distasteful, using this news story to promote Sky's premium TV offering.

I second that - a really good idea from Sky actually.

It's not even the best story to promote the HD channel.

Granted there has been some interesting information popping up on the side panel, as well as some small video feeds, but apart from the camera where Andrew Wilson is, everything else seems to be SD, and presumably that is some kind of world feed?

The HD camera does stick out a mile when they do use it, it's pin sharp compared to the other pictures.

Has this been mentioned - but doesn't Wilcox speak Spanish?

Does Burley speak any foreign languages?

Yes, there's a demonstration of that on air at the moment - interviewing someone while simultaneously translating to English... nice

I do wonder how much exactly we'll be able to see when they do start coming out. I was under the impression that they'd be either hurried away out of sight or they'd arrive at the surface in the dark.

It's an hour and a half till the first one comes up and they'll be a minimum of half hour between them.... there's still a heck of a lot of filling to go

Yep - Tim Wilcox doing a sterling job of interviewing in Spanish and interpreting live.

I think they said they'll reach the surface out of sight, and when it starts I understood it would be at the rate of 1 miner an hour.

Matt Frei was doing the same earlier, too.

Sky News went to adverts just as something actually happened (Policemen arrived at the site, marching and singing).

Mistake on the opt-out - the presenter saying farewell to viewers in America, but not giving an indication to viewers in the UK that they should switch over to the BBC News Channel.

Surprised that BBC1 has ditched the programme - surely they could have held until when BBC2 are due to take the news channel through the night for analogue viewers?

Can't help but think all of these in and out points would look so much smoother on all outlets if they were covered up with a sting.
